    Global Product Line Manager- Gas Chromatographs

    Working as a Product Manager, you will be a key member of the marketing and sales team in Analytical, Process Automation Measurement & Analytics (PAMA), defining marketing plans, including marketing communication, training and sales initiatives. You will drive long term profitable growth of ABB’s Gas Chromatographs Product Line within the Process Automation, Measurement and Analytics Division. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, Business Line Analytical, you will manage the global business and product portfolio, through all life cycle phases, to deliver our growth plan according to market needs and Business Line strategy and targets. This position is also combined with the Global Market Management position (the Global Market Manager reports to the Product Line Manager). In this role, you will manage the global market management team (including area market managers) to implement the strategy with the Sales organization, understand both short and long term market demand as well as providing this demand to Operations.

    Your responsibilities

    • Manage, with your product management team, a global product portfolio (of software, hardware or services) throughout its whole life cycle. Lead continuous business analysis of the existing portfolio and potential new portfolio items including analysis of alternative investments and reviewing potential partnering options. Define brand and product portfolio offering and positioning
    • Develop a Product Line business plan and strategy that drive and support long term profitable growth, tracking performance metrics and implementing appropriate pricing and cost measures for maximum and sustained profitability
    • Develop both the short and long term execution plan of this strategy with our sales organization to ensure alignment between the Product Line strategy and Sales for maximum result delivery
    • Manage the product line product portfolio across its life cycle and your associated product management team to deliver global market intelligence analysis, defining market segmentation and identifying potential portfolio gaps, both against the competition and for new market opportunities
    • Develop with your team internal product development roadmaps and external technology acquisitions recommendations to bridge these gaps. Identify partnership opportunities and participate in the definition of partnership agreements, joint ventures or acquisitions Be closely involved in M&A (​Mergers and Acquisitions) activities linked to your product line
    • Close collaboration with our key customers and global account management team to understand market needs to drive market share increase
    • Manage the Global Product Line market manager and his team to implement the strategy with the Sales organization, understand both short and long term market demand as well as providing this demand to Operations
    • Collaborate with global Marketing, Marcoms and Sales teams to define marketing plans, including modern marketing communication activities, training activities and sales initiatives
    • In collaboration with the different local managers, drive the local and global cross functional teams involved with your product line to provide world class customer experience and satisfaction through an efficient Operation, Quality, Development, Sales and Service organization across its life cycle
    • Ensure competitive design and operation of the value chain/global footprint in line with market specifics. Oversee localization, footprint, technology transfer and trading model strategy definition to maximize time to market, competency availability/development, customer service levels and product profitability. Recommend global manufacturing footprint for your product line
    • Drive profitability and life cycle of your portfolio by defining global pricing strategies and managing global frame agreements with the respective product management team
    • Initiate and drive cross functional / cross organizational highly differentiated new product and solutions introduction, monitor and influence the development of standards and market trends
    • Propose annual development budget for your product line and closely monitor the execution by the product development teams to deliver expected product cost, feature set and time to market requirements
    • Work with your team to deliver high quality customer value proposition for existing and future products, per segment and channel, ensure clear communication to channels and users and deliver clear positioning within the portfolio
    • Be responsible for the annual business planning process, drive agreements between sales demand and supply and monitor global sales target fulfilment and tender volumes as well as act as appropriate
    • Develop a strong and experienced global team, inspire and motivate employees to achieve stretch targets.
    • Ensure (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guide, motivate and develop direct and indirect subordinates within HR (Human Resource) policies

    Your background

    • A university degree (Bachelors Degree, Master Degree, Ph.D.) in a technical field (engineering or quantitative science) and minimum 10 years of experience in global business management
    • Leadership experience in product management, sales, engineering and operational projects
    • Experience in strategic and operational planning in a multinational organization
    • Ability to anticipate customer needs and market trends
    • Strong, well developed verbal communication, influencing, coaching and leadership skills
    • Ability to travel globally
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
