    As a GMD Commissioning & Service Engineer, you will execute and support commissioning in projects with medium to high complexity for large electrical drives, for the minerals and building material industry. You will ensure that commissioning activities are completed efficiently and cost-effectively, in accordance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements. In this role you will assist and coordinate installation activities with the Installation Supervisor/Site Manager, as well as implementing design changes and marking up project documentation. The position reports to the Team Lead GMD System Engineering.

    Your responsibilities

    • Take on responsibility for the commissioning of large MV-electrical drive systems (Gearless Mill Drives 5-28MW) as well as maintenance and troubleshooting
    • Commissioning and service activities on site (globally)
    • Drive system troubleshooting on site and/or back office in Switzerland
    • Carrying out final inspections in cooperation with sub-suppliers and conducting customer training
    • Carrying out function and factory acceptance tests of electrical drives (in-house)
    • Assisting in continuous improvement of project design, and providing input on commissioning and service activities
    • Supporting electrical drive system engineering team and coordinating technical aspects as part of specific projects
    • Verifying technical solutions and addressing issues in close collaboration with customers and suppliers
    • Creating work plans and cost estimates for work, conducting risk and opportunity assessments during commissioning, reporting potential risks and resolutions
    • Coordinating activities focused on customer acceptance
    • Identifying and recommending solutions to meet business and customer needs, and providing relevant information
    • Providing information to contractors/colleagues, and giving feedback to the organization to apply lessons learned

    Your background

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in the field of Power electronics
    • Sound knowledge of MV-drives and converter transformers and the mining industry market
    • Knowledge of standardized norms is considered a benefit
    • A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
    • A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
    • Willingness to travel internationally up to 80-90%
    • Fluency in English, Spanish is an asset
