    Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, Americas

    This position reports solid line to the Americas Region Manager, with a strong dotted line to the Electrification, Service Division Global HSE Manager. It directly manages the HSE team in the USA and manages the overall HSE program in the Americas Region. The position is located in the USA and requires travel up to 25% of the time. The Americas Region HSE Manager is a trusted partner for the Service Division’s Americas Region with direct responsibility for the USA unit. They ensure that the necessary expertise, training, support, mentoring and advice are provided to create the framework in which the Americas Region Manager can manage the business safely, with minimal environmental impact and in compliance with ABB’s standards and local legal requirements. They contribute to the creation of an excellent HSE culture in the Americas Region.

    Your responsibilities

    • Manages the USA HSE team to ensure that the business’s HSE program is achieved.
    • Supports the Region and local Service teams in creating the framework in which they can operate in compliance with ABB HSE standards and legal obligations
    • Leads the Implementation of HSE programs in the Region countries
    • Carries out and manages site visits to support local service units in their Region
    • Carries out, and coaches local HSE advisors in carrying out, risk assessments including Activity Based Risk Assessments (ABRAs)
    • Reports on progress in the implementation of the Region HSE Objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) and carries out and reports HSE self-assessments of local service units, raising and following up on Non-Conformities and Opportunities for Improvement as appropriate.
    • Manages, delivers and tracks specific HSE training courses
    • As appropriate, assists local HSE Advisors in carrying out incident investigations which identify root causes and effective corrective actions. Reviews investigations carried locally to ensure that true root causes are identified and effectively addressed

    Your background

    • At least 10 years of experience as an HSE professional, with strong experience in an industrial environment, is required
    • A degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline is strongly preferred
    • Should possess a high level of knowledge of electrical safety
    • Experience managing teams; experience as a project manager or service manager in an industrial environment is an advantage
    • The ability to manage complex issues and work in cross-functional teams
    • A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
    • Strong influencing skills
    • Fluent English is required; Spanish is an advantage
