    This role contributes to improving health, safety and environment (HSE) performance, helping the organization to deliver a high performing culture through clear accountability and a skilled organization in the Electrification Installation Products (ELIP) in Ormond Beach, Florida. As a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Specialist, you will be accountable for fostering a culture of health and safety excellence within our Ormond Beach Installation Products facility, with a strong focus on the environment. You’ll apply your HSE knowledge to offer advice, guidance and preventative solutions to ensure the site’s organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment health and safety regulations.

    Business Health, Safety & Environment Manager

    Your responsibilities

    • Conduct activity based risk assessments utilizing the knowledge of production supervisors and shop floor employees
    • Perform safety audits, inspections and evaluations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirements
    • Support, implement and monitor occupational health, industrial hygiene and workforce safety procedures, processes and programs in alignment with ABB’s policies, instructions and standards
    • Drive behavioral change through implementing ABB’s Global management system, programs and practices within our facilities to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment throughout the organization
    • Provide outreach to employees by continuously promoting safety awareness and a positive safety mindset by walking the floor and being highly visible within our Ormond Beach facility
    • Coordinate, support and deliver training programs related to safety, ergonomics, accident prevention and new employee safety orientation sessions
    • Responsible for preparing and submitting HSE incident reports, the maintenance of accurate record keeping, KPI (Key Performance Indicators​) progress metrics reporting and ensuring correction actions are effectively implemented

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s Degree required (Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health Management, Risk Insurance and Safety Management, or related is preferred) and minimum 2 years in manufacturing operation setting with involvement in Health & Safety processes
    • Must possess a good working knowledge and application of current Local, State and Federal Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations
    • Experience investigating EHS incidents and assessing risk
    • Ability to develop materials, facilitate presentations and deliver effective Safety Training is required
    • Must be able to advise and guide managers and supervisors on accident prevention and loss-control enhancements and provide interpretation of related policies and procedures
    • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with federal, state and local regulators is required
    • Experience with various management systems including Intelex, Gensuite, Sphera and others is preferred
    • Experience with OSHA 510, 511 for CFRs 1910 and 1926 is preferred, as well experience implementing ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
    • Professional Certification (CSP, CIH, etc) from a nationally recognized organization is a plus
    • First Aid/CPR/AED certified or instructor certification a plus
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States
