The HR Operations Compensation Manager manages a team of 2-3 individuals and is responsible for the overall integrity and system functionality of compensation program delivery for ABB US/PR. This individual will collaborate with various teams to proactively monitor internal controls while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely compensation delivery. This role will need to be able to work locally in our Cary, NC office.

Your responsibilities

  • Partner with HR Business Partners and leaders to provide appropriate guidance and interpretation of policies and guidelines for day-to-day technical and operational components of compensation.
  • Executes annual merit and short-term incentive processes by partnering with internal stakeholders, ensuring data and system readiness, and service delivery.
  • Locally administers the global Employee Stock Acquisition Plan (ESAP).
  • Administers the local Rewards & Recognitions programs, specifically vendor management.
  • Evaluates all compensation shared service delivery processes for effectiveness, identify and recommend improvements, and oversee execution.
  • Supports data activity inclusive of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Owns and approves Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Builds strong working relationships with various cross-functional groups throughout Human Resources and across the business.
  • Drives to understand customer needs and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Develops and monitors internal KPIs for Case Management System and manages corrective actions accordingly and acts as escalation point for compensation issues.
  • Creates awareness, trains, and guide employees (as applicable) on self-service capability and usage at every opportunity.
  • Create materials to effectively communicate compensation processes to employees, managers, and leaders.
  • Promote the strategic and customer-centric value of compensation within the organization.
  • Partners with Compensation Expert Services and country leadership to implement key strategic ini-tiatives and projects as identified or assigned.
  • Supports compliance team on matters related to job structure administration, FLSA and EEOC.
  • Coaches and guides team members on complex queries to help develop their process knowledge and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Identifies team members responsibilities and ensure backup availability through cross-training and skill development.
  • Conducts annual performance/salary review of team members.
  • Designs, recommends, and implements processes to improve the controls, efficiency, and quality of compensation delivery.
  • Drives a mindset of continuous improvement by encouraging team members to constantly challenge the status-quo (especially processes that are manual/repetitive).

Your background

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience, bachelor’s degree qualification or equivalent education and/or experience combined and minimum 3 years in a people-management role.
  • Must have prior experience with a Human Resources Information Systems (Workday and/or SAP preferred)
  • Prior experience in a large, complex, matrixed organization.
  • Familiarity of state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to compensation administration.
  • Experience with job architecture, incentive plan administration, FLSA, EEOC is preferred
  • Ability to maintain data integrity through attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational efficien-cy.
  • Prioritize and meet aggressive deadlines. , and process, manipulate and summarize reports.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and data analysis skills with the ability to convey and present findings to leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
  • Prior experience in project management, leading large initiatives, meeting timely deliverables, and navigating competing priorities.
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and advanced proficiency with MS Office applica-tions.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must maintain confidential information discreetly and be highly ethical with sensitive data.
