HSE Specialist

This role contributes to improving health, safety and environment (HSE) performance, helping the organization to deliver a high performing culture through clear accountability and a skilled organization in the Instrument Transformers & Sensors (ITS), Electrification Distribution Solutions (ELDS) in Pinetops, North Carolina. As the HSE Specialist, you will lead by example applying your in-depth HSE knowledge to provide solutions and advice to address a variety of issues. You will drive behavioral change through implementing the Group wide system, training, and providing assistance from the Center of Expertise.

Business Health, Safety & Environment Manager

Your responsibilities

• Follow and actively participate in all HSE practices and procedures for the Plant
• Execute and/or maintain up to date the ABRA’s (activity bases risk assessments) and recommend corrective actions
• Follow up on site regulatory inspection program, such as forklift, eyewash stations, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, cranes
• Maintain HSE regulatory documents up to date
• Lead internal safety team and support Emergency Response Team
• Maintain all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) up to date
• Follow up with Health, Safety Environmental (HSE) regulatory agencies to ensure compliance
• Complete HSE required inspections, follow up on hazards from inspections, support employees on hazard reporting program and follow up

Your background

• Bachelor degree in occupational health & safety engineering preferred and minimum 4 years relevant experience OR Associate degree plus 6 years experience OR high school diploma/GED plus 8 years experience
• Previous experience in HSE field required
• Previous manufacturing experience required
• HSE regulatory and standards experience
• Microsoft office and computer skills
• Good leadership and communication skills
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
