HSE Support Specialist (m/f/d)

As an OHS Manager, you will contribute to improving our performance in the areas of health, safety and the environment (HSE). At the same time, you will help the company to create a performance-enhancing corporate culture and a competent organization. This position is available at the site in Ratingen / North Rhine-Westphalia / Germany. By leading by example, using your extensive HSE knowledge, you will contribute to finding solutions and recommendations for very different problems. You will drive behavioral change through the implementation of a Group-wide system, training and support from the Center of Expertise.

Your responsibilities
- Strengthening corporate management's understanding of obligations and responsibilities and how to perform functions in accordance with ABB's occupational health and safety laws and Group policies, instructions and standards.
- Generating and maintaining an exemplary culture of workplace safety from management to the store floor.
- Engaging stakeholders to raise awareness and engage them in support of ABB Group's sustainability objectives
- Ensure compliance with the group-wide management system by implementing policies and standards
- Engage external (https://e.g. customers, suppliers, relevant authorities) and internal stakeholders to report on, raise awareness of, gain commitment to, and obtain objective feedback on HSE efforts and performance.
- Report and investigate HSE incidents, collect feedback and communicate lessons learned and best practices.
- Ensure appropriate HSE equipment (PPE) is in place.
- Identify, plan and initiate employee training needs.
- Plan and execute workplace health and safety and sustainability projects.
- Report on targets and progress against the Group's sustainability strategies and HSE KPIs.
- Facilitate risk assessments and ensure that all processes and corrective actions are implemented.
- Act as a role model in occupational health and safety and throughout the organization.
- Implement occupational health and safety related findings and trends.
Your background
- First professional experience in a comparable position desirable
- Further training as a safety specialist is advantageous
- Degree in industrial engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics or similar, alternatively technician or master craftsperson
- The ability to deal with complex issues and to work in cross-functional teams
- A team and solution-oriented approach and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in German and English
