As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be working with customers to ensure our products and systems provide maximum performance, our Service teams solve a wide variety of key industrial challenges. We increase productivity and reliability, lengthen product life span and improve safety. Critically, we also reduce costs, energy consumption and emissions.

    Your responsibilities

    • Installation of electrical frameworks, and detection and correction of faults in existing electrical systems
    • Always carry standard equipment and parts
    • Perform inspections, conduct assessments, and work with customers to determine issues warranting attention
    • Perform installation and restoration work on electrical frameworks
    • Communicate with customers, perform own inspections to diagnose and tend to each task
    • Work under minimal supervision
    • Critical thinker with experience in all facets of electrical work
    • Commitment to continuous learning and ability to mentor apprentices on team
    • Ability to choose most apt course of action for project constraints
    • Select, install, preserve functionality of wires, plugs, panelboards, switchgear, and switchboards
    • Set up and maintain electrical machines
    • Monitor inventory to ensure adequate stock
    • Log time and resources spent on each task to calculate costs
    • Adhere to all relevant safety regulations
    • Acts as company qualifier for electrical contractor licenses in multiple states
    • Install and service industrial equipment, including DC power systems
    • Supervise internal/subcontractor teams installing or servicing industrial equipment

    Your background

    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Completion of a relevant apprenticeship
    • Valid state license permitting practicing as journeyman electrician
    • Four (4) years of experience as a journeyman electrician
    • Ability and willingness to maintain a valid driver’s license
    • Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook / Excel / Word
    • Ability and willingness to travel 100% of the time with overnight stays
    • Ability and willingness to obtain Electrical Contractor Qualifier Licenses or reciprocity in multiple states as required for ELPC
    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
    • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
    • Strong customer service mindset
    • Prior field engineering experience
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills
    • Strong project management skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience in telco, data center or other critical power facilities
    • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs
    • Using a lifting technique to maneuver, install or remove 80-750 lb. batteries
    • Frequently pushing or pulling of cables up to 60 lbs
    • Frequently climbing ladders up to 8 ft.
    • Frequently working/standing on ladders for extended periods
    • Continuous standing
    • Frequently reaching above, below or at shoulder level
    • Frequently bending, twisting or stooping
    • Frequently crouching or squatting
    • Will be exposed to varying environments with moderate noise levels, nominal variations in heat and cold
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
