As an Automation Engineer, you will drive improvements in production of Instrument Transformers and Indoor & Outdoor products production in ELDS in Pinetops, North Carolina, USA. In this role your focus will be on optimizing the manufacturing process through innovation in a cost-effective way, focusing on automatizing processes.

Production Development Manager

Your responsibilities

  • Build plant lean culture by influencing, collaborating, and communicating with all levels of employees
  • Ensures appropriate production methods, service provision, cycle-time, equipment performance, and materials/components in support of production and/or service provision targets
  • Investigate, evaluate, and implement new or improved automation technology/methods that improve safety, quality, capability, and capacity while reducing cost and lead-time
  • Develop and execute projects to design and improve new and existing production processes
  • Design and development of system applications with intuitive user interfaces that perform according to specifications using LabVIEW
  • Assist in the specification and design for capital equipment, and lead construction of both manual and automated systems
  • Ability to diagnose technical problems such as delays, malfunctions, and errors to determine the root cause of the problem and provide a workable/optimal solution in a reasonable timeframe
  • Provides support during equipment startup, defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resources
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop technical documentation
  • Achieve highest safety levels in the plant

Your background

  • University degree in Engineering degree or Industrial Technologies (Mechanical, Electronics, Control, and Automation)
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in automation/robotics
  • Experience with machine safety
  • Knowledge of industrial robot operations and servo systems, including electrical and software interfaces
  • Preferably have process knowledge in one or more disciplines such as assembly, material handling, Robotics, picking, Lean Manufacturing, automation, etc.
  • Preferably have a working knowledge of control systems, I/O, PLC and bus communication. Labview, C, C++ programming language is preferable
  • Experience in ABB Robots is a definite plus
  • Experience in offline robot programming and simulation packages (RobotStudio) is a plus
  • Experience in Layout Development and optimization
  • Advanced level in English language (Speaking and writing skills)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and work with diverse discipline project teams
  • Ability to learn new methods and technologies
  • Attention to detail
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
