As a Mechanical Engineer on the Product Architecture Management team, you will be responsible for creation and maintenance of mechanical designs used in high-volume product through the entire lifecycle process in Motion NEMA Motors in Fort Smith, Texas. In this role you will be working closely with R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure product performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability requirements are met.

Your responsibilities

• Demonstrate solid competence in technologies, tools, and methods for solving complex problems.
• Design new and improved parts or assemblies, including castings and fabrications.
• Actively seeking and implementing initiatives to improve motor designs and increase customer satisfaction as well as design for manufacturing.
• Analyze the effect of design or design changes on other components including motor test data for performance verification.
• Perform detailed cost/benefit and complexity analysis.
• Interface with Product Management in the creation of product specifications while also collaborating with quality to ensure continued reliability.
• Document work results (like findings or designs) solidly, allowing others to maintain or improve them.
• Communicates effectively, both on technical and general topics, within the team, with other teams and management.

Your background

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required with 0-2 years’ experience.
• Solid modeling experience is required.
• Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint is required.
• Preferred Experience Includes: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SAP, FEA, Visual Basic, Python, or other programming languages.
• Prior experience with design, analysis or maintenance of rotating machinery is a plus
• Strong team and communication skills.
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
