    Position summary

    rtunity to extend and further develop power modules which are the core part of the successful ABB Medium Voltage product family. You will utilize your knowledge and background from power electronics to fully understand the limits of the current solutions and identify opportunities for further development to meet ever emerging market requirements. You will explore applicability of new technologies and solutions and work with our global R&D teams to design new products based on those.

    Your responsibilities

    • In depth analysis of the currently used power modules for ABB Medium Voltage drives solutions. Identifying design limits and opportunities for further development.

    • Actively follow technology and product development in LV and MV power modules industry; identify technologies and solutions applicable for future development of power modules

    • Analysis of possible solutions and conceptual design in cooperation with R&D team, simulation, rapid prototyping, proof of concept design and laboratory testing to verify applicability of new solutions.

    • Defining test programs for new components, sub-systems and full modules including reliability test plan (DFMEA, component lifetime calculation, HALT, ALT, environmental testing, design margin testing, etc.)

    • As a senior engineer drive technically R&D activities and projects to design and deliver new power module solutions on time, cost and quality.

    Your background

    • University Master degree, PhD or equivalent expertise and practical experience in the field of electrical engineering with focus on Power Electronics and power module main circuit design.

    • Background experience in high power low voltage or Medium Voltage Power modules main circuit design is desired and an advantage.

    • Experience in system modelling, simulation and system design analysis using state of the art simulation and engineering tools.

    • High interest and focus on practical experimentation, testing and validation in lab environment and new products and functionalities' introduction to the market. Expertise in solutions and components qualification and certification including reliability testing is desired and advantageous.

    • Interest in applied research and development, self-organized, motivated person, who likes to work in a highly qualified globally distributed research and development team composed of experts in different domains.

    • Readiness for business trips and short term work in other global ABB R&D locations.

    • Fluency in written and spoken English
