As a Product Progam Manager you are part of the PMO team in the Destination segment within E-Mobility division in The Netherlands. In this role you will take ownership of projects from the initial value proposition until the market introductions and first customer projects. You will work closely with R&D team and be the gate keeper of the quality of the deliverables.
Your responsibilities
- How your day could look like:
- Together with segment marketing, you will ensure that we have clear market requirements and business case to start the project.
- Prepare assignment scope, resources needed that you will sharpen together with R&D team.
- Agree with all the stakeholders globally on your project plan: what the processes and escalation paths in different situations will be during the project. Also clearly agreeing the roles and responsibilities, change management and when/how the project will be fully handed over to the local operation teams.
- Brainstorm with your project management team how to improve the project execution strategy, tailored to individual regions.
- Visit the factory and/or customers to ensure effective results.
- Regular interactions with, the “front end” like: Local Project Managers, residing in Local Sales Unites for Local Project Execution, relevant local stake-holders and Sales Region Europe. To make sure the expectations are constantly synchronized and changes in the project are addressed on time and contractually followed up.
- Regular interactions with, the “back end” like: Global Product Management, global customer service handling order processes, production including customizations, logistics especially cross continental, digital customer care for our cloud services, global service for support and training, but you also support the local service so they can do installation/commissioning and have a good SLA agreement in place, etc.. all of this to make sure your project will meet the goal and after that will smoothly flow into operation.
- Regularly give a presentation and report to the main ABB internal stakeholders on the projects whereabouts reviewing the: status, challenges, budget, risks and how you mitigated the risks and unforeseen contractual changes.
- Joining a contract negotiation with the customer, and translate that quickly in a high level structured project plan. After the meeting you will structure the requirements and deliverables in a transparent manner, to make sure there can be no misunderstanding in what is agreed to fur fill the contract.
Your background
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in similar roles
- Degree (BSc) or Master in Business Administration or similar. Could also be that you have an engineering degree (BSc) or Master(s), followed by project management training and substantial project management experience also with large international complex projects.
- Senior or mid-career level of experience is required.
- Knowledge in power electronics products, e.g. chargers, UPS systems and voltage conditioners, will be highly appreciated.
- International hands-on project management experience in high tech product development from the idea until market introduction.
- Experience in managing customer projects for example from innovative pilots to complex international roll outs.
- Experience in managing and working with sub-contractors internally and externally.
- Expectation and change management towards the internal and external stakeholders is very important around your project.
- Living in the Netherlands, you have very good communication skills (written & verbal) in English. Dutch is a plus but not required.
- You enjoy working in a young and dynamic team of highly motivated professionals with a great team spirit serving the EV business worldwide. Also you take pleasure in team bonding events organized several times a year by the team.
- Willing to travel, expected to become about 20% average depending on the project, but now during covid it’s reduced to a minimum and all the project managers working mainly from home.
