    Production Development Technician

The role reports to the Production Supervisor and is located in Richmond, Virginia. As a Production Development Technician, you will be responsible for defining, documenting, and executing tests on various products and devices using a complete knowledge of product, testing methodologies, and requested requirements. Evaluate and document training procedures in accordance with business strategies relating to safety, quality, and efficiency.

    Your responsibilities

    • Define the working phase sequence of first of kind production units
    • Define the details, test sequence, testing methods and equipment to be used on standard and/or customer factory testing
    • Review and update procedures as needed based on engineering design changes
    • Analyze and evaluate test results
    • Perform special testing as defined by the business for RCAs related to customer events
    • Capable of training Entry level and Level 2 Technicians to proficiency and document for evaluation
    • Ability to lead and provide direction to Technicians at the Senior Level
    • Assess skill level, prepare training course of action as appropriate, provide manager with advice for next steps or future training needs
    • Research and identify gaps in training that may need to be addressed and make recommendations
    • Collaborate and work closely with Quality/Process and Engineering Department
    • Maintain 6S and a safe work area consistently
    • Report any problems with schematics, drawings etc.
    • Ability to work weekends and overtime shifts
    • Work closely with production on manufacturing issues
    • Administer assessment testing and advise management regarding in training
    • Able to work with minimal amount of supervision

    Your background

    • High degree of problem solving and troubleshooting and 5 plus years experience testing and troubleshooting electronics and 3-phase high power preferred
    • 5 plus years in a Test Lab and/or a manufacturing environment preferred
    • Thorough understanding of PDUs, RPPs, STSs, UPS, and other power conditioning equipment
    • Extensive knowledge of test equipment setup and test station infrastructure
    • Experience with High Power 600V-208V 3-phase applications
    • Familiar with PCBA programming
    • Proficient in using power meters and oscilloscopes
    • Able to understand transformer voltage, current and power calculations
    • Computer skills Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
    • Proven team player
    • Effective interpersonal skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Highly organized
    • Strong verbal and written English language skills, (Witness Testing)
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
