    As a Production Engineering Specialist, you will drive improvements in production of robots in BA (Business Are) Function Engineering Delivery Platform BA (Business Are) Function Operations, Quality & HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) Robotics & Discrete Automation in Auburn Hills, Michigan. In this role, you will be defining the working sequence of a new production process in order to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget. Ensure appropriate production methods, cycle-time, equipment performance, and material/components in support of production efficiency targets. Provide support to Production during the internal/external process/equipment start-up, defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resources. Evaluate new process technologies to improve productivity, quality and cost reduction defining and leading testing activities. Approve chosen criteria and external provider choices. Serve as a robot product expert to provide technical support for robot production such as SAP product structure, BOM (Binary Output Module), robot hardware/software issues.

    Your responsibilities

    • Perform tasks within the ECO(Engineering Change Order​) process locally to implement changes in production
    • Create and maintain work instructions/PFMEA’s (Process failure mode and effects analysis) and other manufacturing documents to support production
    • Develop and maintain routing allocations of material and workstations in production
    • Maintain, prepare and update new and existing products in SAP
    • Guide production staff in work methods and processes
    • Oversee various aspects of new product launches such as new assembly equipment/robotic cells/testing cells
    • Improve efficiency within production through continuous improvement projects
    • Provide input to the design of new workstations, tools, and automation

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with minimum 2 to 3 years related experience in manufacturing/production environment
    • Understanding/exposure of robotics and how the technology is used in manufacturing
    • Knowledge of programming standards (Robotics/PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers)/HMI (Human Machine Interface)/Torque Controllers)
    • Ability to understand safety requirements and safely operate a variety of machine shop equipment and hand tools to support production
    • Knowledge of SAP and/or the ability to learn SAP critical functions associated production processes
    • Ability to use AutoCAD/Solid Works for fixture design
    • Experience in using project management methodologies in starting and closing various projects/launches
    • Experience with designing small fixtures/hand tools/brackets
