    We are looking for a new colleague for the position of "Project Application Engineer / Automation Engineer (m/f/d) - DCS and Protections Systems" in the in the area of Distribution Automation Solutions in Ratingen, Germany. In this role, you will support and coordinate engineering and commissioning activities and make technical recommendations in various phases of customer projects to ensure that all activities are effectively executed in accordance with expectations, customer specifications, standards and safety requirements, while identifying improvement opportunities.     This position reports to

    Head of Operations

    Your responsibilities

    • Work on modern DCS systems using automated tools like zenon
    • Design, specification and documentation of automation and protection systems
    • Creation of functional design specifications and programming of software applications
    • Design of hardware for the implementation of automation and communication systems
    • Performing acceptance tests (FAT)
    • Commissioning of equipment at the customer's site
    • Active work within the entire project team
    • Creating technical documentation in accordance with ABB and end customer requirements
    • Collaborating on the development of quotations and support to end customers

    Your background

    • Several years of experience in electrical engineering projects and commissioning, preferable in medium and low voltage systems
    • Sound knowledge of engineering methods, processes, IEC 61850 and Ethernet / communication testing tools
    • Experience with projects in the field of Utilities, Petrochemical industry, Mining, Metals, Rail applications is desirable
    • Interest in the area of automation / electrical (PLC, communication and control systems)
    • A strong focus on safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines
    • A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies
    • A collaborative, solution-focused approach, and strong written and spoken communication skills in both English and German
    • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent/higher
    • Willingness to work in an international team - daily use and improvement of the English language
    • Willingness to travel - approx. 20-30% of the time
