R&D Engineer

In this position, you will contribute ideas for innovative technology developments and solutions, working to solve industrial problems. In this role, you will contribute creative ideas to R&D projects, as well as proposing follow-up projects and activities based on new ideas.

This position reports to

R&D Team Manager

Your responsibilities

• Develop new designs, cost reductions, and design modifications that will assure product and technology leadership in accordance with the company’s strategic plan.
• Interface with Product Managers, Project Managers and R&D Engineers during product development and enhancement process to ensure that customer feedback and concerns are addressed in the design.
• Ensure that development documentation protocols and procedures are followed in accordance with established QA process and ISO 9001.
• Prepare project level and product documentation based on the requirements.
• Document product robustness using simulations, analysis and testing methods.
• Evaluate test plans and test results. Protect inventions following ABB intellectual property guidelines.
• Prepare and maintain product documentation, instruction manuals, project notebooks, and design and test documentation.
• Arrange design reviews, analyze concepts and cost effectiveness of the hardware designs.
• Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing. Assist Purchasing on supplier selection and component evaluation. Write papers, participate in technical meetings, seminars, and conferences.

Your background

• A Bachelor’s degree Mechanical, Electrical-Mechanical Engineer.
• Experience in Medium Voltage ANSI / IEC Switchgear / MCC design.
• 3+ years of experience.
• Solid works or equivalent 3D software experience.
• English Advanced Level.
• A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills.
