R&D Senior Engineer

You will be working as R&D Senior Engineer and will be part of Electrification business for Smart Power division based in Hyderabad, India. In this role you will be reporting to R&D Team Lead and will be responsible for contributing significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product and/or solution development as well as associated IP by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions. Uses unique technical knowledge to oversee development tasks.
Your responsibilities
- Recommending technical approach, required resources, and schedule interfaces with other
- Engineering Departments, Test Laboratories, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Research, and Suppliers as required
- Making technical decisions by applications of specialized knowledge / skills, leverage prior work where appropriate; interface with internal and external stakeholders to assure requirements are met; build strong relationships
- Communicating status and problems to senior leadership / management; work in teams and achieve targets in a global environment
- Developing project IP strategies based on good understanding of IP strategies and competitors patents in relevant ABB domains and actively shares knowledge in the organization
- Demonstrating proven project management skills by being a solid contributor to successful project results and improve project efficiency making use of lessons learned

Your background
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering; or higher
- Minimum 12 years of experience in R&D of LV Circuit Breakers and Switchgear; Exposure to product design & development, quality, value engineering, costing of electrical
- distribution and control products like ACB, MCCB, MCB, Contactors, and Switches
- Proficient in CAD Tools like Creo, CATIA V5, Pro/ENGINEER etc. and Simulation Tools like ANSYS, Pro-Mechanism etc
- Demonstrated experience in mechanism design, development & advanced simulations (dynamic, kinematic) using software tools like ADAMS, ANSYS Motion etc
- Proficient in circuit breakers technology, applicable regulatory standards, test requirements thereof; previous experience with product industrialization will be an added advantage
- Highly motivated team-player with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and strong communication skills
