Regional Engineering Manager

Join us as Regional Engineering Manager for Process Automation Business Area where you will be managing a team of designers/engineers to deliver high quality, cost effective and timely engineering solutions to customers. Formulating plan, allocating resources to meet the agreed contractual and financial targets. Ensuring team's compliance with standard processes, procedures, practices, and safety requirements. Initiating and driving continuous improvement activities across teams. Responsible for engineering activities in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Brunei. Reporting to Local Division Manager, you will play a vital role in driving innovation towards a more efficient, optimized and effective solution from design, cost time and safety perspective. Position location is open/flexible.
Your responsibilities
- Leading the engineering teams that are responsible for greenfield and brownfield evolution projects and ensuring delivery of a portfolio of projects on time, in full
- Providing direction to the teams with a focus on safety, on-time delivery, quality, and margin improvement
- Building and maintaining customer relationships, seeking feedback, and providing innovative solutions to meet customer requirements and deliver improvements
- Providing engineering support during the bid phase and supports the presentation of proposals to Customers
- Working with business development to target new opportunities, presenting new technology and innovation at conferences, client events.
- Overseeing contractual work within own area of responsibility. Conducting regular progress reviews, identifying, and managing contractual risks
- Ensuring engineering team are adequately resourced, developed and equipped to meet business needs
- Overseeing planning and control process in the engineering teams. Conducting regular reviews to ensure that the teams are delivering work according to the customer and ABB requirements
- Creating and implementing plans to ensure that the business risks are identified and managed, opportunities maximized
- Ensuring that required systems are understood, developed and correctly implemented
- Collaborating with the Supply Chain function to ensure that correct suppliers services and equipment are available to support the engineering execution
- Facilitating best practice sharing within the engineering team
- Initiating and driving continues improvement activities. Developing, implementing, and improving relevant processes, policies and procedures to improve effectiveness across the engineering function
- Ensuring (with HR support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Participating in defining the annual budget for area of responsibility and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets and constraints
Your background
- Bachelors' degree in electrical or automation and minimum 15 years combined experience in leadership/management and engineering
- Technical Experience working with Automation and Electrical products and solutions in Oil & Gas, Chemical and Power Generation domain
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications and related business and engineering software applications (CAD/AUTOCAD, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, etc.)
- General understanding of network engineering and IT/IS will be a plus (PC handling, Windows applications, PC configurations, Virus scanners, interfaces, backup)
- Experience with multicultural involvement and engagement and demonstrated ability to develop, implement and execute effective KPI’s
- Poses strong people management skills that create highly motivated individuals who work together as a team to execute a well-defined strategy
- Customer focused mentality that fosters strong customer relationships and long-term commitments, both internal and external to ABB.
