    Resident Field Service Technician

    In this position, you will provide technical support for Automation & Electrification Solutions, Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN) in Richland, Washington, delivering superior, professional service, remotely or on site. You will be responsible to work independently and possibly as part of a team based on customer and contract requirements at the customer site of residence. Coordination of activities as well as other staff to install, modify, test, tune, configure or repair Company controls system products and equipment in an efficient and safe manner. Represent the Company in negotiating agreements, resolving highly complex technical, logistics and business issues while promoting and maintaining good Customer relations and protecting the Company's interests. This position requires you to be within 50 miles radius of resident site, so relocation may be required.

    Your responsibilities

    • The candidate will need to be self-motivated and self directed to accommodate the numerous customer responsibilities
    • Actively participate in Site Safety programs. Safety is our Number 1 priority
    • Provide customer consultation on process control hardware, system software, device communications, and control networks
    • Routinely implement minor upgrades and expansions to process control systems. This includes minor logic and HMI (Human Machine Interface​) tag and graphics changes
    • Participate on a rotating basis to provide 24 hour on call for ABB system problems and resolution support
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks
    • Maintain updated program documentation and system program backups
    • Install Cybersecurity upgrades: MS Patching and anti virus
    • Work as part of project team to provide facility startup coverage
    • Point of contact for shipments and inventory management associated with Customer ABB on site spares

    Your background

    • High School Diploma or GED required and minimum 5 years related experience in any combination of related degrees/certifications, work or military experience
    • Basic understanding of computer networks, automation systems DCS/PLC systems (architecture, project engineering and HMI/graphic creation)
    • Experience troubleshooting and installing control systems (DCS or PLC)
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
