Senior Field Service Engineer (f/m/d)– Power and Water Industries

In this role, you will execute medium-to-high-complexity maintenance-, upgrade- and retrofit- automation projects. As a member of a project team, you will plan and execute the engineering and commissioning activities in the ABB office and on the project site in accordance with ABB processes, standards and safety guidelines. You will deliver excellent customer service by meeting customers’ needs, while maintaining good relationships with customers. You will work with others to identify new service business opportunities, helping to convince clients to take ABB’s complete service portfolio.

Your responsibilities

• Execution of Hardware and Software Engineering using ABB tools and products
• Supporting project managers and project lead engineers in technical reviews and discussions with customers, partners, subcontractors and vendors
• Making technical recommendations in the engineering, installation and commissioning phases of customer projects
• Coordinating, preparing and ensuring that all materials, parts and equipment are available and of appropriate quality
• Supervision of sub-suppliers during installation and commissioning phase
• Carrying out commissioning works: field and function commissioning, start up and documentation
• Taking care of closing open points in preparation of handover to client
• Maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction by providing excellent service at all stages of the project
• Ensuring that Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices are of high standard, and working to eliminate unsafe practices and incidents
• Consistently applying functional processes while considering links to other teams

Your background

• At least 5 years of experience in Automation, working as Service Engineer or Project Engineer
• Sound knowledge of ABB’s automation systems (e.g. AC800M, Melody or P14)
• Experience in industrial automation of energy, water and/or chemical plants
• A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
• Ability to travel mainly within South Germany (50%)
• A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies
• A completed degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Process Engineering
• Fluency in German, Good English – both spoken and written
