    The Senior IoT Controls Engineer, will be responsible for creating/designing, implementing, debugging, programming, and managing a vast array of IoT devices, platforms, software, hardware, and systems to collect and share data used to make decisions to ensure the plant operates effectively and efficiently within the Motion Business Area in Fort Smith, Arkansas. It will provide support to safety, quality, manufacturing, maintenance and engineering, monitoring equipment and processes to improve safety, quality, reliability and efficiency of processes to help improve manufacturing cost. Accountable for planning, coordinating, developing and implementation of new business applications to agreed targets, in time, on budget and at quality of functionality.

    Your responsibilities

    • Set direction for, lead and take ownership for developing and executing both short and long-term business applications (data, analytics, and technology) that are aligned with strategic business goals
    • Integrate hardware and software components used to mine data and monitor equipment such as (sensors, gauges, analog devices, vision systems, PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controllers), motion controllers, etc.
    • Debug, create, design, program, and commission IoT devices and software used to monitor and analyze equipment and processes
    • Work with IS as necessary on delivery of new transformational programming/ configuration demands (infrastructure requirements, machine to machine connectivity, etc.)
    • Responsible for development and deployment of all business applications for manufacturing facility (Microsoft Power BI-DAX, PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) ThingWorx-Java Script, etc.). Development of Smart factory by using smart connected products and visual factory tools (PTC ThingWorx)
    • Responsible for coordinating/Onboarding of third-party tools (PTC ThingWorx, FlexSim, etc.) and establishing Standard Work and coach/mentor others to utilize the new business applications
    • Analyze User needs then design, develop and implement solutions to provide data necessary to help make informed decisions to ensure the plant operates more effectively and efficiently

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required with minimum 5 years of working experience.
    • Preferred Experience Includes: 3-5 years of experience with PLC platforms such as ABB, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc. - Experience with PLC, and HMI (Human Machine Interface​) programming and commissioning - Knowledge of network engineering and IT (PC handling, Windows applications, PC configurations, interfaces, etc.) - Knowledge of various reporting tools (Microsoft Power BI, SAP, etc.) - Proficiency and experience in development on PTC ThingWorx IoT Platform and language like Java, Java Script, C, C# & Visual Studio.
    • Must be willing to work on off shifts and weekends as needed. The majority of scheduled hours will be during dayshift hours.
    • Must be able to work effectively with operators and other manufacturing support staff to solve problems and improve productivity.
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
