    Senior Load Center R&D Owner

    Develop technology roadmap, product specifications, and scope development programs in collaboration with product management and global cross functional teams to support NEMA Load Center market. Implement product development projects using local and global design resources ensuring robust design, implementation of patentable features, on time delivery, as well as cost and specification attainment

    Your responsibilities

    • Leverage a deep understanding of our competitive position in terms of technical advancement, performance and cost to identify and scope programs that improve our competitive position and drive growth
    • Develop robust technical specifications, based on product requirements, to enable global design teams to execute new programs that will drive growth
    • Provide technical inputs to the product roadmap in collaboration with product management to drive a strong, innovative product offering
    • Leverage a deep understanding of applicable codes and standards and participate in industry discussion about current and future potential changes
    • Scope development programs including R&D executables, budget, and resource requirements by using deep technical background, in depth understanding of the standards, experience with product development, and understanding of the manufacturing processes to be used.
    • Support the design teams by directing design decisions when needed and facilitating quick decisions for conflicting requirements or complex issues
    • Identify technical risks early, work with design teams to develop/execute risk step down plans
    • Drive robust failure and root cause analysis during the development phase
    • Review designs ensuring robust techniques are used and all design elements have been thoroughly evaluated
    • Establish standard design and test methods for the product line
    • Serve as a product and subject matter expert, providing guidance to team members thru your experience and expertise
    • Promote ABB R&D internally and externally to foster cooperation and knowledge sharing
    • Coach/mentor design team to support individual and team skill development

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar and minimum 8 years engineering experience, including experience with product development of industrial and/or electrical products
    • Experience with product qualification, implementing products into production and delivering tough commitments in a team environment
    • Background in load centers or similar, UL 50, UL 67 and NEC
    • Clear communication, strong collaborative skills across functions and within global teams
    • Track record of delivering products using a structured risk management and product development process
    • Experience with design software (Creo Preferred), PLM (Windchill preferred, Magnetic simulation and Thermal Simulation
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
