    Position summary

By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Quebec City, you will actively contribute to our clients' projects, as well as to the research and development of our technology. You will be part of a dynamic and stimulating multidisciplinary team. Attached to the opto-mechanical group, you will be responsible for the mechanical aspects related to the design, manufacture, and analysis for several projects to ensure a successful delivery on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety guidelines. You will also be responsible for performing structural and thermal analyses to guide the design of these systems within the opto-mechanical team. The engineer sought has a developed physical sense, autonomy, aptitude for working in a multidisciplinary team, experience in research and development for the design and analysis of space systems. • Design instruments in accordance with the requirements, costs, and deadlines. • Choose and optimize the manufacturing processes (CNC machining, molding, folding, 3-D printing, and others). • Check and sign off the plans in accordance with the geometric tolerancing standards. • Supervise the assembly and the mechanical environmental tests. • Rigorously document mechanical design, establish tolerancing budgets and inspection plans. • Supervise assembly, commissioning and test plans for prototypes. • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and make presentations to customers at critical milestones. • Participate actively in planning tasks and technical proposals (estimation). • Occasionally support production.
    Qualifications for the role

    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with ten years of experience in complex systems development, knowledge of optical systems an asset.
    • Knowledge of the materials, mechanical manufacturing processes, heat treatments, and surface treatments.
    • Knowledge of geometric tolerancing principles.
    • Knowledge of structural and/or thermal finite element analysis (FEA) (asset).
    • Experience in designing instruments for harsh environments (asset).
    • Knowledge of manufacturing standards for high-pressure equipment (ASME) or in explosive environments (ATEX) (an asset).
    • Member of the OIQ.
    • Bilingualism (French/English) and aptitudes for written and spoken communication. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
