Senior R&D Engineer

You will be working as Senior R&D Engineer and will be part of Process Automation Business Area for Energy Industries Division based in Bangalore, India. In this role you will be reporting to R&D Team Lead and will be responsible for supporting strategic corporate technology direction and future product/software/solution architecture. Initiates and drives technology, software, product and/or solution development using in-depth technical expertise in a specific area or a broad range of skills in a technical or product field. Manages or coordinates development projects/activities of substantial impact to the business. Can act as the first line contact in R&D/SW development/Product engineering for in-depth product or technology related issues.

Your responsibilities

• Maintaining, designing and further developing core components for the software products and co-own system architecture by keeping a set of documents up to date
• Analyzing and improving efficiency, quality and scalability of the products along with Product Management, sales and engineering teams, analyze customer requirements, generate specifications, provide implementations and deliver working solutions
• Working with development manager, system architect and product owner to define scope, features and estimates for new projects and will be responsible for analysis and solution of system issues reported by customers or end users
• Participating in design discussions, documentation and reviews with ABB team as needed capability of becoming proficient at developing a workflow process, troubleshooting the software and staying current with upgrades, updates and patches
• Ensuring that you are responsible for conceptualization and driving of the design, development, testing and deployment of web and windows applications across the various product lines
• Selecting the technology stack and platform for developing the new products within division
• Collaborating in the productivity improvement initiatives like continuous integration and deployment, devops, architect review and proposals etc. for faster and reliable development as well as deployment of the BL products/solutions
• Planning and make technical training for customer key users or internal team

Your background

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in EE or Computer Science engineering
• Required with 8 - 12 years experience in web application development experience using C#, ASP.Net MVC, .Net Core, MVC REST API, Angular/React, Node Js, HTML, Ajax, JQuery, Java script, CSS, Bootstrap
• Experience in working with SQL, RDBMS, timeseries, No SQL DB with deep knowledge of object-oriented programming and Design patterns, building Restful APIs with good understanding and preferably hands-on exposure to microsoft azure
• Proven experience in product design, architecture and development
• Experience working in Agile/DevOps environment with CI/CD tools with excellent coding and problem-solving skills with attention to details
• Understanding or experience in Docker / Kubernetes with Industrial Automation domain exposure is added plus
