Sr Benefits Analyst

As a core member of the Human Resources Operational Services in Compensation & Benefits, the Sr Benefits Analyst ("Benefits Consultant") will deliver HR service assistance to the HR community, business managers and employees. You will process complex and escalated HR requests related to multiple service lines for an assigned group of employees. In this role, you will be responsible for delivery of U.S. and Puerto Rico benefit operations, vendor management and benefit program delivery to employees, managers, human resources business partners (HRBPs), and other stakeholders. This role is open to remote candidates, with a preference for those in the Cary, NC area.

Your responsibilities
- Implement and deliver U.S. and PR benefits strategy, policies, projects, and procedures within area of Health & Welfare (H&W) Plans
- Manage relationship and monitor performance against service level agreements with benefit carriers
- Recommend, develop, and assist in implementation of special programs in area of functional specialty
- Comprehend, interpret, and communicate complex benefits regulations and documents
- Support key projects and process development
- Collaborate with HR Information System for system testing, interface mapping and related benefit system capabilities
- Participate in benefit merger and acquisition activities as needed
- Support implementation of new benefit programs, plans, processes, and/or carriers
- Consult with internal customers and vendors to ensure cases are resolved timely, accurately, and efficiently
- Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) based on best practices and operational efficiencies
- Stay current on changing Federal and State regulations and legislation that may affect employee benefits
- Collaborate with Payroll and Vendor Partners to resolve issues
- Identify reoccurring issues and trends and collaborate internally on root cause analysis and resolution
- Coach and guide team members on complex queries to help develop their process knowledge
- Consult with internal customers and vendors to ensure escalated benefit cases are resolved timely, accurately, and efficiently
- Assist with benefit communication regarding benefit policies and standards to internal customers as needed
- Resolves complex ServiceNow cases in accordance with the Key Performance Indicators, while also providing exceptional customer service
- Build strong working relationships with various cross-functional groups throughout Human Resources to deliver exceptional customer service experience by responding accurately and timely to customer requests
- Provide feedback/train/customer facing teams to equip them with knowledge to respond to customer requests
- Create awareness/train/guide employees (as applicable) on self service capability/usage at every opportunity
- Recommend changes to HR system functionality and support systems implementation/upgrade in area of functional responsibility
- Lead process improvement activities and participate in quality control and audit activities
- Submits change or enhancement requests when necessary
- Confirms that all controls are functioning as designed and proactively identifies areas for improvement in internal controls
- Identify and implement improvement ideas by challenging the status-quo (especially processes that are manual/repetitive)
Your background
- A relevant Bachelor's degree with 4 or more (4+) years of benefits administration experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- In-depth knowledge of health and group benefits
- Understanding of benefit laws and regulations: ERISA, Benefit Plan Reporting/Filing Requirements
- HCM systems experience in SAP and/or Workday
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and other MS Office applications
- Critical thinking skills to investigate and resolve issues
- Must be results oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects, shifting priorities, and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrated presentation skills
- Must have prior experience with a Human Resources Information System
- Must maintain confidential information discreetly and protect employee privacy
- Highly ethical, flexible, inquisitive & logical
- Strong customer focus
