Startup and Warranty Program Manager, Enclosed PowerTrain Packaging, System Drives

We are focusing in on the United States as a key market with high growth potential and are looking for an engineer who is interested in joining our dynamic Enclosed Powertrain Packaging organization, where we are executing a large project with multiple location. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring that site commissioning activities are properly forecasted, planned, coordinated, staffed, and executed as well as overseeing warranty execution for packages delivered under this project. This position holder will both leverage and grow their related drives industry experience in the areas of project management, logistics, site planning and management, startup and commissioning, and warranty execution, all through direct engagement with ABB’s customer organizations, internal teams, and third-party suppliers.
Your responsibilities
- In this role you will have commercial and technical accountability for Enclosed Powertrain Packaging projects from the time equipment is delivered until the end of the warranty period and ensure that contractual requirements and Customer expectations are met. But even before equipment is delivered, you will coordinate with the project execution team through project review meetings as well as our customers regarding startup schedules, site logistics and readiness, commissioning preparations including capability assessments and resource planning, and commissioning proposals.
- You will be accountable for the performance of both internal and third-party field service teams and ensuring that we establish commissioning teams as required, based on the project scope. This will require holding, and in some cases, developing relationships with those internal and third-party organizations and teams.
- With health and safety being a priority, you will ensure we strictly follow all applicable health and safety guidelines, whether industry specific, Customer or site specific, or per ABB’s Company policy.
- You will ensure that project commissioning happens on-time per Customer expectations, and that our customers are well informed and provided with status updates as appropriate through coordination with field service resources.
- You will have the opportunity to frequently visit Customer sites for assessments, planning meetings, and to ensure field service resources can progress with their work.
- You will serve as an escalation path for warranty related issues, protecting ABB’s interests while delivering on obligations and providing a superior customer experience even in the most challenging situations.
Your background
- Engineering or Business Degree.
- 10+ years business experience in related areas; e.g. Field Service, Application Engineering, Project Engineering, Project Management.
- Field Service experience with medium voltage variable speed drives and motors.
- Strong technical knowledge about medium voltage variable speed drives and applications.
- Commercial astuteness.
- Customer facing experience.
- People management experience preferred.
- Time management and able to multitask.
- Demonstratable relationship building and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Results-oriented mindset. Structured and process orientated.
- Teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage expectations in difficult situations.
- Intercultural Sensitivity & Effectiveness.
- Willing to travel (20-50%).
