    Technical Support Engineer

The role report to the Manager, Power Protection. As a technical support engineer, you will be responsible to support service group and customers on operational and maintenance aspects like troubleshooting, servicing, installing and maintaining UPS systems, batteries and other critical power equipment. You will also have to give some training to the service team or customer.

    Your responsibilities

    • Be the technical specialist regarding critical power equipment for the Canada.
    • Assist and support service team for servicing, troubleshooting, installing and maintaining critical power equipment.
    • Read and analyze engineer notes from global product group (service) to take action on the Canadian install base.
    • Work with the Service Coordinator and Customers, informing them of issues they may experience and the necessary corrective actions.
    • Proactively identifies suggestions for product and quality improvement and communicates them further in the ABB organization.
    • Provide recommendations to management to improve operations and customers services.
    • Work with other team members to complete custom and large installation projects.
    • Give training to increase service technician knowledge.
    • Stay connected with US service Engineer and global product group service.
    • Provide 24X7 support on a rotation basis with other engineers.
    • Complete paperwork in a timely and accurate manner including Field Service Report, RMA’s, etc.
    • Applies safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental.
    • Report unsafe practices and incidents.

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in servicing, troubleshooting, installing and maintaining critical power equipment.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience reading and deciphering electronic schematics and troubleshooting electronics to the component level.
    • Fluent in both language French and English is an asset.
    • Factory training or the equivalent in repair and maintenance of multiple leading UPS brands is an asset.
    • This position requires 20% travel with the majority being within Canada.
    • Advanced level ability to interact and communicate (written and verbal) information.
    • Advanced customer focus.
