    Technical Support Specialist – Process Automation

Reporting to the Manager National Service Support Center, the successful candidate responsibilities will be to Manage, and Resolve reported technical issues for ABB Process Automation Systems, 800xA, Symphony, Freelance and Advant. Provide ABB projects with expertise knowledge of systems and hardware. Provides sales and proposal support.

    Your responsibilities

    • Diagnose and isolate problems through analysis of user problem descriptions: review of log files, remote diagnostics, reproduce identified issues in lab environment.
    • Participate in field/site activities to diagnose and resolve complex issues or conduct system health checks.
    • Participate in meetings with customers, L3 centers, L4 R&D organizations.
    • Maintain technical competence for responsible products and third-party technologies.
    • Provide ABB projects with expertise knowledge of system and equipment and works with project engineering team to escalate, if necessary, to ABB global Product and Development teams to resolve issues.
    • Provide sales and proposal support.
    • Offer reliable, courteous, prompt, and professional service at all times.
    • Work with internal and external customers.
    • Strong technical understanding of the products and services provided to the oil and gas, pulp and paper, mining and metals, and Power System industries.
    • Strong technical knowledge in systems applications.
    • Exercise judgment and initiative to prioritize work, recognize and solve problems, adapt to changes, and select most effective methods to accomplishing tasks.
    • Ability to work in a team environment as well as remotely.
    • Offer reliable, courteous, prompt and professional service at all times.
    • Expertise with ABB DCS/OCS systems, 800xA, Symphony +.

    Your background

    • College Diploma or University Degree.
    • Self-motivated and ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously.
    • Excellent communication skills – written and oral (English, French would be an asset).
    • Strong interpersonal skills with customers and co-workers are critical.
    • Strong computer skills – Word, Excel, Email, and Internet based applications.
    • Experience with SAP sales order management.
    • Must be detail and accuracy oriented.
    • Self-starter, motivated, positive outlook, willingness to take on new and unfamiliar tasks.
    • Experience in process automation business with sound knowledge and hands-on experience in servicing, maintaining or commissioning of systems. Alternatively, a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering.
    • Preferably knowledge in ABB Process Automation products 800xA, Symphony, Freelance, Advant) and third-party technologies such as Microsoft, Virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware), network communication.
    • A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies applying a problem-solving solution-oriented mindset.
    • Demonstrated sense of ownership and responsibility working both individually and, in a team.
