    Working as a Project Engineer, you will be the Telecommunications Project Engineer for various engineering projects in Energy Service, Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN) in Houston Texas, providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals. This position will be responsible for supporting engineering and programming Telecommunications systems in our Process Automation, Energy Industries team. This position will include all aspects of a project including helping to identify the appropriate technology, high level (functional design specifications, block diagrams, Bill of Materials) and detailed level design (Equipment Locations, General Arrangements, Wiring/ Installation and diagrams), testing, start up and commissioning of various systems. This position requires knowledge telecoms systems typically deployed on Oil & Gas facilities onshore and offshore. Technical design and implementation field experience with new networks. Associated Communications equipment: software application configuration and testing.

    Your responsibilities

    • Knowledge of design, configuration, testing, installation in one or more of the following systems: Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Personal Access Control Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems, Public Address/General Alarm (PA/ GA)
    • GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress Safety System), Local Area Networks Wide Area Networks, Wireless Local Area Network Telephony Systems Structured Cabling Systems, IPTV , Voice Recorder Systems, UHF (Ultra High Frequency) Digital Trunked Radio Systems (Mototurbo, P25 and Tetra) Dispatch Consoles (Motorola, Zetron, Telex), VHF (Very High Frequency) Aeronautical Systems, VHF (Very High Frequency) Marine Systems, Collision Avoidance Radar, Crane Radio Systems, Wireless Mesh, Point to Point Microwave, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) & SatCom Systems

    Your background

    • Bachelors degree and minimum 4 years experience in telecommunications OR
    • Associates degree and minimum 8 years experience in telecommunications OR
    • High School Diploma or GED and minimum 10 years experience in telecommunications
    • A Master’s Degree in required field = credit given for 2 years of work experience
    • A PhD/ Doctorate in required field = credit given for 3 years of work experience
    • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or computer science is preferred with minimum 2 plus years experience in the Oil, Gas and Chemical industry preferred
    • An active Cisco CCNP or CCIE, Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and Federal Communications Commission license
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
