tions in both industrial and service robot segments. Permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM, also known as servo motor) is one of the key components in robot drivetrain. Typical servo motor requires an angular position sensor for accurate position control. Robot painting applications only require servo motor speed control to keep certain paint pump pressures, thus sensorless speed control for servo drive can be applied for cost saving and solution simplification. Research topics: Study sensorless PMSM angular position estimation methods and apply the methods for PMSM speed control by simulation and experiment Goal(s): 1. To study different sensorless angular position estimation methods 2. To simulate and implement selected solutions into experimental setup and conduct measurement Details: • Period: 6 months (January to June, 2024) • Number of credits: 30 ECTS • Number of students: 1 • Since lab work involved, the MS student needs to come to ABB office in Västerås from time to time • Contact for details: https://bin.liu@https://se.abb.com
