    Trade Compliance Governance Specialist

    Assisting the business function and/or Business Excellence Centers, as a Trade & Transportation Specialist, you will ensure that goods are shipped while meeting quality, legal and costs parameters. In this role, you will be supporting the US (United States) Trade Compliance Officer, with a focus is the oversight of compliance with all applicable customs rules, sanctions and export control regulations in accordance with regulatory requirements and ABB’s Global Trade policy. Additionally, provide local business hands on support in case of trade related issues, guidance and training in compliance improvement initiatives and the pursuit of strategic trade objectives.

    Your responsibilities

    • Establish and maintain a Quality Culture within ABB, by assuring and controlling Quality with systems, tools and teams ensuring sustainable operations. You will assist in the implementation, maintenance and compliance of customs and trade activities, applying and implementing standards, tools and processes to ensure compliance to the US (United States)Foreign Trade Regulations
    • Scope of responsibility: Delivering and participating in training programs on compliance and professional development
    • GTS (Global Trade Services​) Super User and provide GTS training to all local users
    • Random Audits and correcting Local Division import and export records
    • Confirm or correct accurate calculation and payment of duties and customs fees
    • Drive efficiency and accuracy of customs transactions
    • Manage central import records database
    • Tactical Support: Leading by example by demonstrating Customs and Trade best practices and business ethics in day to day operations, contract management and negotiations
    • Executing effective and transparent communication internally, externally and between different units and centers to drive cross collaboration
    • Standardizing processes and implementing routines in line with global directives
    • Leads the development and deployment of policies, regulations and processes that make up the management system and are effective in meeting customer and shareholder expectations
    • Executing continuous improvement and strategy deployment and working to standardize processes and develop best practices
    • Support business management to ensure that the operational approach and system of business management are continually evaluated for effectiveness
    • Perform audits and ensures the use of analytics of Quality data from all parts of the business to identify risks, failures and non conformances within the businesses. Ensure that appropriate corrective and preventive actions are taken, and solutions are managed to closure
    • Utilize requirements management, process implementation, risk management and performance measurement to ensure effective internal controls are in place to meet stakeholder requirements across the business
    • Stakeholder Management: Support interest of business units in conducting import/export transactions
    • Ensure proper duty and other taxes and fees are assessed on all transactions
    • SME (Subject Matter Expert​) resource to business units in the area of customs and trade management

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of experience in trade compliance role, specific focus on import regulations and procedures and export control compliance
    • 10 years of experience in Customs and Trade, internal control, audit, or related areas preferred
    • Licensed Customs Broker is preferred
    • Good knowledge of Customs and BIS (Bureau of Industry and Security) regulations and procedures
    • Ability to perform with a complex range of businesses and tasks
    • Demonstrated experience working with enterprise resource planning and standard operating procedures
    • Ability to multitask and drive large project to closure
    • Sound working knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems preferably SAP, knowledge of Microsoft Platforms
    • A collaborative, solution focused approach
    • This position requires a leader with communication skills, presence, customs, logistics and deep business knowledge. Specifically building a team, drive new services, building the trade, transport and logistics management strategy for the coming years
    • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
