Role overview

As a Software Engineer Manager, you and your team (2-3 software engineers) will be responsible for the design, development, and deployment of new features for the Accolade Expert Medical Opinion Platform, as well as the maintenance of the current code base for that platform. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to translate requirements into software solutions

A day in the life…

• Work with the EMO Product Manager based in Houston, TX to understand requirements and scope
• Effectively Design, Architect, and plan the delivery of the proposed enhancements and maintenance
• Manage individual sprint priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for your development team
• Provide direct oversight to the team including workload planning, coaching, constructive feedback, and personal development of direct reports
• Responsible for meeting expectations and deliverables on time with high quality for the team and as an individual
• Effectively communicate the status, manage expectations for the stakeholders, demonstrate creative, technical, and analytical skills
• Support a current PHP monolithic application as we work to transition it to a Microservices architecture, lead code reviews, troubleshoot of new features and quality reviews

What we are looking for…

• 3 years of experience in Leadership and Mentorship of Software Engineers of various levels
• Solid understanding of full-stack web development on Open-Source Technologies
• 5 years of experience developing web applications using PHP (strong skills and experience required), MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Working experience building REST APIs
• Understanding of Docker Containers and Microservices architectures
• Understanding of AWS IAM, S3, RDS, ECS, API Gateway
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience in building and working in a highly agile, collaborative, innovative, and flexible environment. Has the desire and willingness to work on a fast-paced Agile team
• Solid foundation on Modern DevOps culture
• Experience in Healthcare especially with HIPPA compliance systems is a plus
