We value and cultivate our culture by seeking to always be collaborative, intellectually curious, fun, open, and diverse.   As a Data Engineer within the Advance AI team, you will be a key member of a growing and passionate group focused on collaborating across business and technology resources to drive forward key programs and projects building enterprise data & analytics capabilities across Advance Auto Parts.

As a Data Engineer, you will develop robust advanced solutions that have a direct impact on the business.   You should have experience in JavaScript; a strong background in algorithms and data structures; hands-on AWS experience; expand and optimize data pipelines, data flow, and collection for cross functional teams.   You should also have a proven history of personal leadership and contributions to team value delivery and thrive in working in a product model using Scrum.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture by assembling large, complex data sets to meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements including automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Support the building of machine learning, data platforms, and infrastructure required for optimal data extraction, transformations, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
  • Work with architecture, data, and design teams to assist with data related technical issues and support data infrastructure needs.
     

Qualifications

  • Required: experience in maintenance of a Tag Management Solution (TMS) with tools such as Tealium, Ensighten & DTM.
  • Experience in web analytics related activities that will primarily focus on Governance, Implementation, Testing
  • Strong understanding of front-end web technologies like JavaScript, HTML, Jquery and JSON.
  • Experience implementing Machine Learning (ML) and Big Data platforms in Hybrid and multi-cloud environment specifically in AWS SageMaker environment. Experience in container, streaming and messaging technologies is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical mindset.
  • Proven ability to write robust, maintainable, and extendable code in JavaScript and Python framework.
  • Experience with cloud architecture and technologies; specifically, Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with agile and test-driven development.
  • Proven understanding of data structures, data modeling and software architecture
  • Effective communication skills within varying levels of the organization (peers, the business, and technical/code.)

Education and/or experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related; and

  • 4-6 years of professional experience in data engineering, or related field; or

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
