    The successful candidate for Manager, Real Estate will have proven success managing multiple projects and supporting renewable energy development efforts in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on growing and leading a team of subject matter experts.

    The role requires the ability to manage a small team of analysts and project managers focused on management of all real estate deliverables needed for development through construction, including financial closing(s) for multiple renewable energy projects throughout their region.  The manager works with their cohorts in their region, the larger national team, and a cross functional team including origination, project development, legal, finance, engineering, construction, and other project stakeholders.  Duties will also include working with your manager to implement strategies and standards, as well as management of renewable energy and land use entitlement, coordination with AHJs and other regulatory agencies as needed to back up the team you are managing. 

    This position is 100% remote, working from a home office, with 10% travel to   any of the project sites and/or to AES office (when needed). Eligible applicants will live within the United States and have reliable internet access for a home office.

    Core Competencies:

    • Demonstrated experience in permitting, commercial title and survey related work including review, negotiation, and coordination of all deliverables for renewable energy projects.
    • Exceptional organizational, communication, decision making/problem solving, analytical and time management skills.
    • Proven ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
    • Team player with strong initiative and mentorship skills.
    • Track record of ability to instill confidence as a credible, reliable and expert subject matter expert for team members in technical matters.
    • Ability to critically and creatively anticipate, recognize and solve problems.
    • Ability to manage and mentor direct reports. including a project manager and senior analyst. 

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ability to train team to secure land use permits for new and acquired renewable energy facilities across multiple local, state, and federal jurisdictions for projects in your assigned region.
    • Mentor analysts, senior analysts, and PMs on permitting team.
    • Evaluate internal procedures and processes and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
    • Provide QA/QC reviews of various documents for projects managed by direct reports.
    • Track and manage workloads of direct reports; provide assistance as needed and re-assign projects as needed.
    • Act as liaison to upper-level management for all real estate information related to their region.
    • Act as a representative for AES in meetings with the community, elected officials, and regulators.
    • Implement cost reduction initiatives, improve consultant partnerships, and invoice audits.
    • Identify and implement novel strategies to reduce project cost and impact.
    • Manage contractors, vendors, and consultants to maintain project timeline and budget.
    • Provide ongoing support to the PMs, as required, throughout the construction process.

    Desired Skills and Expertise:

    • Undergraduate or graduate degree in environmental sciences, geography or related field.
    • 8+ years proven track record of permitting success in development, preferably in utility-scale environment.
    • Knowledge of renewable energy construction process; real estate development; renewable energy projects/assets evaluation and acquisition.
    • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and Google Earth preferred.
    • Microsoft Office, project management software.
    • Preferred experience in a management position, developing the professional abilities of your team.
