    Position summary

    As a Lead for Network Architecture and Strategy, you will lead a diverse team of architects and engineers to build and design solutions.

    This hands-on position is responsible for driving overall Network Architecture, Design principles, and models, which include standards, global strategy, geo-redundancy, Disaster Recovery, Proof of Concept, and best of bread approach to technology selection that strategically aligns with business requirements for Cloud and traditional core network technology infrastructure. It requires a necessary understanding of IT applications, native cloud network services, traditional network technologies, WAN, SDWAN, Wireless, Cloud Security, Hybrid environments, and automation.

    About The Role

    • Adhere to and enforce established lifecycle methodologies, compliance requirements, practices, budgets, Incident escalations, and project plans. Requires maintaining successful working relationships with internal IT teams, vendors, and business partners that spans globally.
    • Drive the architectural direction and vision for tactical and operational initiatives targeted at owning the technical and functional roadmap of Network solutions available on-prem and within multiple cloud environments. 
    • Identify key technology, business process, and operation drivers to develop and deliver the solutions, integration strategy, performance, and usability.
    • Lead and support areas of corporate architectural governance that supports the establishment of technology standards and roadmaps, the development of architecture, detail design, design reviews, documentation, deployments, and delivery validation of quality network solutions and services.
    • Maintain a comprehensive view of current information assets, program/project architecture, and future information needs while delivering data effectively and efficiently across projects and programs.
    • Provide recommendations for capabilities to systems mapping and end-to-end network capabilities solutions; provide leadership and direction for diverse and network connectivity functions.
    • Support cross-departmental collaboration, internal communications with staff throughout the organization, managed services engagements, and service providers while promoting a positive work environment that supports consistency and drives efficiencies.
    • Review the team’s work from short to mid-term against objectives and architecture vision. Recommends alternatives or adjustments to correct problems or solidify successes in the perspective of current and proposed architectural strategies.

    Essential Functions/Duties And Responsibilities

    • Expertise in Load balancing (F5), Infoblox, SDWAN, Palo Alto, Megaport & Aviatrix solutions and services
    • Develop a scalable operations model to include a documented roadmap, goals, and objectives
    • Provide clear leadership, coaching, and guidance to the high-performing team of engineers
    • Establish and maintain Service Level Agreement (SLA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Data Center operation framework, and system
    • Responsible for the day-to-day functional management of the organization, including performance management, training/developing, forecasting/reporting, and budgeting/expense control.
    • Execute a technology strategy that drives efficiency, flexibility, and innovation across the business to advance Alight vision.
    • Operate as technical people manager that ensures that staffing and workload levels are appropriately balanced; that networking staff is appropriately trained for their role while operating in an Agile work environment
    • Responsible for the architecture, roadmap, design, standardization, availability, security, compliance, life cycle management, operational efficiencies, automation, and the support of all network infrastructure devices and services
    • Critical thinking skills, ability to accurately analyze information and make data-driven decisions
    • Develop processes for Architecture, Engineering efforts, from project intake, demand vs. resource capacity planning, and global governance
    • Budget management for Capital spending, and Operational expense planning including spend tracking during project execution phases
    • Engage with and oversee Managed Services efforts to insure consistent deliverables
    • Research and analyze current industry best practices, new technologies, and information security developments and mitigation of critical deficiencies
    • Oversee strategic planning, creation, execution, deployment, and completion of projects that align with the business needs current and future.
    • Act as the highest escalation point within the engineering department for chronic or unknown network issues
    • Strong understanding of technical troubleshooting methodology
    • Actively participate in major outages to drive outages to resolution within documented SLA’s

    Qualifications
     

    • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, other advanced science or engineering field or equivalent real-world experience
    • A minimum of 7 years experience with global networking, diverse security infrastructure, and in-depth knowledge of traditional network hardware and services, with deep knowledge of network services available within AWS and Azure cloud environments, Data Center, Hybrid Environments, and protocols.
    • A minimum of 7 years experience with managing technical staff on a global scale
    • Managed Services experience is a plus
    • Advanced Network certifications are a plus
    • Working knowledge and understanding of Network Protocols and Software, Switching/Routing SDWAN, Firewalls, Load Balancing, Wireless, DDI, Network Connectivity, DDoS, (Service Now, WorkDay), JIRA
    • Automation and related toolsets to drive efficiencies within Networking environments, specifically Ansible and Terraform
    • Network monitoring knowledge, and analytical skills
    • Working knowledge of corporate IT disciplines and group dynamics
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills across organizational boundaries
    • Network Modernization experience, and cloud technology

    Education

    Bachelor's Degree - While possessing the stated degree is required, applicants who hold a combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience should apply

    Pay Transparency Statement: Alight takes into consideration a candidate’s experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography when determining an offer for a successful employment candidate, and Alight does so on an individualized, non-discriminatory basis. Therefore, an offer may fall anywhere between the estimated minimum base salary for this role of $135,700.00/year (for full time employees) and the estimated maximum base salary for this role of $196,200.00/year (for full time employees).
