The role

The Product Manager is a member of the extended Product Management team and crucial member of the Product Engineering Team and as the owner of Alight’ euHReka Payroll and Payroll Automation backlog. The PO is a key point of contact not only for the Product Engineering / QA but also towards stakeholder that will received, implement, and use euHReka Payroll and Payroll Automation solutions

The Product Manager is responsible for defining and refining features, user stories, and helping prioritize the Engineering Team backlog to streamline execution of product priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of features for the team. In this capacity, the Product Manager remains highly available to the Engineering / QA teams during each iteration (sprint) in order to answer real time questions and provide clarity to user stories.

 The Product Manager also drives user story refinement activities ensuring Team backlog 'ready' work for Engineering team. These two functions are critical to enabling Engineering teams to improve and maintain high velocity / productivity in iteration (sprint) execution.

The Product Manager also has a significant role in quality control and is empowered to accept stories as done, ensuring the acceptance criteria has been met. This role has significant relationships and responsibilities outside of their specific Agile team, including working with the Product Manager(s), who are responsible for the Product (Program) Backlog and for building strong relationships with key business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develops deep understanding of customer experience, especially at a tactical and transaction level.
  • Builds and maintains the teams’ backlog for Payroll and Payroll Automation, with input from customer, Product Leaders, System Specialist, Engineering, and other stakeholders (team backlog consists mostly of user feature, stories, it also includes bugs and enablers.)
  • Collaborates with Engineering team and stakeholders to write features, user stories, based on requirements that include acceptance criteria and acceptance tests.
  • Reviews and prioritizes Team backlog for Iteration (Sprint) Planning, including coordination of dependencies with other Product Managers.
  • Collaborates with System and Solution Architect/Engineering to assist with decision-making and sequencing of the technical infrastructures that will host the new business functionality.
  • Works with Product Team for user story details. Highly available to technical team during iteration (sprint) to answer real time questions and provide clarity to user stories.
  • Manages and maintains efficient flow of just-in-time story elaboration activities (user story refinement) throughout team execution, typically maintaining 2 iterations (sprints) worth user stories available and ready in team backlog.
  • Participates in demo with primary responsibility of reviewing and accepting completed user stories. This includes validation that stories meet acceptance criteria and meets team's Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Participates in Iteration Retrospective, where teams gather to improve their processes.
  • Plays an instrumental role in producing the Feature and Capability-level demo for program stakeholders ensuring representation of user stories within PO's scope.
  • Coordinates user story, functional, and technical dependencies with other Product Owners throughout each iteration and Program Increment.
  • Works across Agile teams to define and implement improvement stories that will increase velocity and quality of the program.
  • Accountable and responsible for user story quality and performance in production environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor or master’s degree with a Business or Technical emphasis, or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of Experience in HCM and/or Payroll preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant Product Management, Product Owner, Business Analyst, and System Analyst experience
  • 2+ years working in Agile, lean and or DevOps driven environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and technical background combined with keen business acumen.
  • Service-oriented and Pro-active with a strong sense of accountability
  • Self-starter with proven record of working independently and collaboratively in a demanding interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Detail oriented & thorough, with ability to understand and identify the key trends and levers that drive the business.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to clearly explain complex cases and analysis is equally important as understanding it.
  • A willingness & eagerness to learn and further develop your career in Product development and support environment.
  • Ability and persistence to find root causes and drive to understand the unknown.
  • Strong ability to apply abstract theory and expertise to solve real-world problems.
  • Hands-on approach with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Track record of success in dealing effectively with complex projects entailing frequent interaction with senior executives.
