Accounting Manager

Job Description

Ameriprise Financial has an exciting opportunity for Accounting Manager role! The individual would be responsible for managing staff and accounting functions across multiple advice and wealth management products. Partner with the business to develop and implement accounting practices consistent with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other governing agencies. Responsible for ensuring that the various ledgers and records of the company and its subsidiaries are accurately accounted for and controlled.

Responsibilities

• Support diverse accounting functions across several advice and wealth management products. Manage relationships across the organization and provide functional advice, accounting expertise, training to staff, and business partners.

• Provide people and organizational leadership.

• Approve journal entries, controls and balance sheet reconciliations and workarounds for non-automated processes. Prepare and review internal and external reporting schedules. Provide oversight to ensure integrity in financial records sent to general ledger from business and finance systems. Assess general ledger linkages for new development and impacts on accounting processes. Develop and lead operational improvements to ensure that integrity, control and optimal efficiencies are established while minimizing financial risks.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree

• 5-7 years of accounting experience

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio.

• Ability to lead, collaborate, and influence effectively with partners including external auditors. Able to communicate accounting concepts, requirements to business partners, and technology and raised issues.

• Deep understanding of end-to-end process flows, systems, controls and impacts across products and business divisions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience

• Degree Focus in Accounting or Finance

• Series 99 or Series 7

• Experience using Workday general ledger systems.

• Knowledge of accounting for financial products and services
