Job Description
Present the Ameriprise Financial Institution Group's (AFIG) services for community financial institutions to prospective bankers with the goal of establishing new relationships with qualified banks. Work within a geographic territory. Establish and develop relationships with regional and community banks and credit unions to educate potential partners on the benefits of our services and sign on new business with these potential partners.
If you are not located close to a physical office, remote work is considered for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
Develop expertise in all aspects of AFIG products and services through internal training and self-study. Travel, about 75% of the time, throughout an assigned territory to promote the use of AFIG services and products.
Make business development on-site presentations to prospective financial institutions to create new accounts. Partner with management in the implementation of new accounts or bank programs to set expectations. Educate partners and staff and ensure a high quality implementation. Perform all aspects of business to business sales and business development within the financial sector (preferably Investment services) with emphasis on developing a pipeline of financial institutions, networking, negotiating, and closing deals.
Establish new financial institution relationships within a specified geographic territory. Develop a pipeline of prospective banks through outbound phone calls, emails, direct mail, banking association conventions, and walk-in calls. Manage sales accounts in process through consistent follow up and communication. Maintain accurate notes in corporate CRM system.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
7-10 years experience
Strong computer skills and experience with managing data, report creation, prospecting development, etc.
Investment or financial industry experience, preferably within sales or account management.
Assertive, competitive, self-starter, goal-oriented, and results-driven, with an entrepreneurial spirit.
Highly self-motivated, creative, and decisive.
Ability to respond effectively and quickly to clients’ needs and issues.
Ability to travel consistently throughout assigned territory.
Excellent communication and public presentation skills.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Exceptional customer service, written, and oral communication skills.
Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to communicate with other departments within the firm to achieve goals (e.g. Sales, Marketing, IT, Operations, Compliance, HR).
Proficient with the complete Microsoft Office 2010 suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. (skills will be tested).
Excellent time management skills.
Comfortable presenting to bank executives, board members, and high level decision makers and/or large groups.
Professional demeanor.
Ability and experience articulating complex and in-depth concepts.
