Job Description
Support the long/short and long-only Technology Equity products as part of the firm’s highly regarded Technology Research team. Support research and development of investment, specifically short selling ideas. Support team leads on mis-priced securities. Structure trades appropriately and conduct valuation analysis on sector companies.
California Residents Only: The estimated base salary for this role is $100,000 - $150,000 / year. Base salaries are determined in part based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. Responsibilities
Support senior analyst and portfolio manager on mis-priced securities and the key catalysts that will drive stock movement toward the target price.
Support research and development of investment, research the industry and specific companies through customer due diligence, channel checks, earnings calls, company visits, industry conferences and sell-side events. Specifically for short selling ideas.
Conduct valuation analysis on sector companies to arrive at price targets on existing short positions and price discrepancies on prospective short positions.
Accurately assess market expectations by identifying consensus views on stocks and industry.
Structure trades appropriately to maximize reward/risk.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or equivalent
5-7 years of experience as a dedicated Analyst as a sell side analyst for a reputable firm, or as a buy side analyst for a institutional asset manager, hedge fund or public accounting background
Preferred Qualifications
Some experience shorting stock for a long/short asset manager.
Ability/desire to be part of a team and work within a collegiate, collaborative environment.
Deep understanding of financial statements.
Ability to create and maintain detailed financial models.
High level of intellectual curiosity and desire to learn about a variety of industries and business models.
