    Associate Director, Thought Leader Liaison- Central Area Lead

    The Associate Director, Lead of Thought Leader Liaisons (TLLs) will lead a team of experts with deep product and company knowledge to develop and execute business strategies that strengthen Amgen's reputation and credibility in the marketplace. This leadership role oversees a team of 6-7 Thought Leader Liaisons who serve as disease state and product experts, responsible for expanding strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and driving high-level account strategy.

    The TLL Team Lead plays a critical role in fostering advocacy within the thought leader community while aligning and mobilizing internal cross-functional teams to support effective and coordinated KOL engagement. Through strategic leadership and collaboration, this role will help advance Amgen's partnerships with key external stakeholders and elevate the impact of thought leader engagement across the organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Articulate and communicate a clear strategic vision for the TLL team, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the medical community by cultivating Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and product advocates across academic and community settings nationwide and within assigned geographies.

    • Collaborate cross-functionally with medical, sales, and global teams to ensure consistent information exchange and alignment with organizational objectives.

    • Oversee the development and execution of commercial KOL engagement plans, ensuring integration and alignment with sales, marketing, and leadership strategies.

    • Maintain deep expertise in product, disease state, market dynamics, and reimbursement to inform strategic business planning and drive KOL engagement, product adoption, and leadership connectivity.

    • Lead and motivate the TLL team by setting clear objectives, allocating resources effectively, and monitoring performance and activities.

    • Recruit and develop top talent, ensuring team members possess the skills and capabilities needed to succeed in an evolving industry and therapeutic landscape through ongoing coaching and feedback.

    • Identify and implement training opportunities to strengthen team capabilities in product and disease state expertise, account management, strategic planning, analytics, presentation skills, and marketing tool utilization.

    • Proactively identify and address business or personnel challenges that may impact performance, provide coaching and implementing corrective actions as needed.

    • Continuously assess talent and succession readiness to ensure a strong leadership pipeline within the team.

    • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of major congress meetings and related engagements.

    • Ensure compliant and effective management of speaker bureau activities and program implementation.

    Qualifications

    We recognize that every team member brings unique strengths and perspectives to serve patients. The professional we seek is a dynamic leader with the following qualifications:

    • Doctorate degree and 2 years of marketing, sales, or relevant clinical/medical experience OR

    • Master's degree and 4 years of marketing, sales, or relevant clinical/medical experience OR

    • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of marketing, sales, or relevant clinical/medical experience OR

    • Associate's degree and 10 years of marketing, sales, or relevant clinical/medical experience OR

    • High school diploma/GED and 12 years of marketing, sales, or relevant clinical/medical experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 7+ years of field sales, product marketing, or medical/clinical experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry

    • Experience in the neurology or neuromuscular therapeutic area strongly preferred

    • Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) experience strongly preferred

    • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both small and large audiences

    • Strong team orientation with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority

    • Experience in institutional sales and/or large account management is a plus

    • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functions within a complex organization

    • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, initiatives, and projects simultaneously

    • Strong business acumen with analytical capabilities and the ability to leverage data and market insights to inform strategic decision-making

    • Strategic mindset with a demonstrated ability to drive innovation and new approaches

    • Adaptability and resilience in leading through change and navigating unexpected challenges to achieve business objectives

    • Results-driven with a strong sense of urgency, personal accountability, high integrity, and a strong work ethic

    • Proven ability to develop, coach, and motivate high-performing teams

    Travel Requirements

    • Approximately 50% of travel required, including overnight and occasional weekend commitments.

    The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $233,982 - $264,727. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
