In this vital role the Executive Director, US Launch Lead for prostate cancer (STEAP-1 bi-specific) is accountable for designing and delivering the US launch strategy for one of Amgen's most strategically important oncology products. This role owns the end-to-end US commercial launch-from early market shaping through post-launch execution-and serves as the single-point commercial leader responsible for ensuring launch excellence, durable uptake, and long-term sustainable brand growth.This product represents a significant opportunity to advance Amgen's oncology portfolio and redefine treatment paradigms. Success in this role requires a seasoned commercial leader with deep experience in launch planning, marketing excellence, market creation, and cross-functional orchestration-someone who can translate scientific innovation into a compelling, differentiated brand narrative that resonates with customers and drives adoption at scale.The Executive Director is a member of the Oncology Business Unit Senior Leadership Team (OBU SLT) and plays a critical role in shaping the broader US Oncology commercial strategy, culture, and operating model.

    Key responsibilities include:

    US Launch Strategy & Readiness

    • Working closely with core partners such as Global Commercial team to lead the comprehensive US launch strategy, ensuring seamless execution from pre-approval through launch and into early commercialization

    • Define the launch ambition, success metrics, and critical path milestones across all functions

    • Lead scenario planning and launch risk mitigation across regulatory outcomes, competitive dynamics, access scenarios, and supply considerations.

    • Collaborate on launch strategy and readiness with key functions including Field, Access, Medical, Patient Support, Digital, and Corporate Affairs

    Market Definition & Market Creation

    • Define the US market opportunity, including target patient populations, lines of therapy, care pathways, and key decision-makers

    • Identify unmet needs, adoption barriers, and behavioral drivers; translate these insights into market-shaping strategies

    • Serve as the in-house US commercial authority on product, market, competitive landscape, and evolving standard of care

    Brand Strategy, Positioning & Messaging

    • Leverage Global strategic platform to create the US brand strategy, value proposition, and long-term growth narrative

    • Lead development of the core messaging platform, ensuring scientific credibility, customer relevance, and strategic differentiation.

    • Ensure consistent, compelling storytelling across all touchpoints-HCP, payer, patient, and internal audiences

    Cross-Functional & Matrix Leadership

    • Lead a highly integrated, cross-functional launch team spanning Marketing, Global Commercial, Sales, Medical, Market Access, HEOR, Regulatory, Legal, Digital, and Operations

    • Establish clear governance, decision rights, and accountability across the matrix.

    • Partner with Global teams to ensure strong US input into global strategy, while tailoring execution to US market realities

    Field & Access Enablement

    • Ensure the Field organization is launch-ready with clear strategy, compelling materials, and confidence in the value story

    • Partner with Market Access to shape pricing, reimbursement, and contracting strategies aligned with brand objectives and customer needs

    • Oversee development of patient support and access solutions that enable rapid and equitable uptake

    People, Culture & Leadership

    • Build, develop, and inspire high-performing commercial team, modeling leadership behaviors that promote accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement

    • Act as a visible, decisive leader who brings clarity amid ambiguity and momentum through complexity

    • Partner with the BU General Manager, OBU SLT, and other Brand Leads to reinforce a strong sense of purpose, collaboration, and executional excellence across the OBU

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Doctorate degree & 6 years of Marketing experience OR

    • Master's degree & 10 years of Marketing experience OR

    • Bachelor's degree & 12 years of Marketing experience AND

    • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leading teams, projects, programs, or resource allocation.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 8+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience within the biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industry

    • Leading one or more major US product launches, ideally in oncology (particularly prostate cancer) or other complex specialty markets

    • Experience launching first-in-class, best-in-class, or market-creating assets strongly preferred

    • Ability to translate complex science and data into clear, differentiated commercial strategies

    • Deep understanding of US market access, pricing, reimbursement, and policy dynamics

    • Analytical mindset with experience using insights, forecasting, and scenario planning to guide decisions

    • Experience leading large, cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed environment

    • Executive presence with the ability to distill a strong brand narrative, influence senior leaders, challenge constructively, and drive alignment

    • Experienced people leader with a passion for developing talent and building high-performing teams

    • Oncology experience strongly preferred, with additional preference for experience in prostate cancer; experience with immuno-oncology, novel mechanisms, or biomarker-driven therapies is a plus
