    Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs -R&D

    Let's do this! Let's change the world! In this vital role we are seeking a dynamic and talented Corporate Affairs professional to join our R&D Communications team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on collaboration, values in-person teamwork, and is passionate about developing impactful communication strategies that highlight innovation and scientific excellence. This role will require some time onsite at the Thousand Oaks or South San Francisco campus.

    In this role, you'll support Amgen's Research and Development (R&D) priorities by crafting compelling internal and external communication initiatives. Your efforts will amplify our reputation for scientific innovation and our commitment to being a top destination for talent.

    • Partner with R&D Corporate Affairs Directors to advance Amgen's reputation, emphasizing our science, innovation, and pipeline.

    • Develop and maintain engaging internal communication channels to foster alignment with business objectives.

    • Identify and create compelling content that highlights Amgen as a leader in science and a top workplace.

    • Provide tools and insights to enhance engagement across R&D.

    • Lead key elements of the R&D strategic communication plan, such as newsletters, campaigns, and events.

    • Oversee social media presence for key R&D executives, including planning, content creation, and account management.

    • Collaborate on content for Amgen.com and Amgenpipeline.com, ensuring accurate and timely updates.

    • Manage the overall calendar for R&D milestones and identify opportunities to amplify key activities.

    • Support the submission process for key external awards that recognize Amgen's scientific excellence.

    • Coordinate on-site R&D events and provide in**-**studio video production for R&D leadership and special projects like end of year sizzle reels.

    • Monitor and manage the R&D communications budget, including vendor onboarding and billing processes.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Doctorate degree and 2 years of corporate communications or public relations experience
    Or

    Master's degree and 4 years of corporate communications or public relations experience
    Or

    Bachelor's degree and 6 years of corporate communications or public relations experience
    Or

    Associate's degree and 10 years of corporate communications or public relations experience
    Or

    High school diploma / GED and 12 years of corporate communications or public relations experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Degree in public relations, communications or journalism

    • experience working in-house or within a PR agency

    • Biotechnology, pharmaceutical or healthcare product public relations including corporate experience highly desired

    • Hands on experience scientific / research communications desirable

    • Strong oral and presentation skills; ability to negotiate and persuade

    • Outstanding writing skills

    • Strategic and creative thinker with ability to develop actionable programs that integrate soundly with business objectives

    • Ability to efficiently navigate a challenging and dynamic environment, and deal with rapidly changing priorities

    • Ability to interact with all levels of management and manage staff and vendors

    • Ability to think quickly, analytically and creatively to accommodate a dynamic communications environment

    • Excellent interpersonal skills; enthusiastic, team player and self-starter; serious dedication to hard work and excellence

    The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
