    Position summary

    or WEMEA affiliates, tailors Health Technology Assessment (HTA) & reimbursement strategy and drives seamless launch implementation for key product launches in the region, with the goal of optimizing patient access and pricing. The role also supports and leads regional and global initiatives, to ensure consistent application of pricing governance and continuous improvement of processes in Global Operational Pricing.

    Responsibilities
    Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Creating and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with global, regional, and local affiliate teams to align with pricing, access and global evidence strategies. Close collaboration with relevant advisors from functions such as IAS, HEOR, Supply, Legal, Marketing, and Medical is crucial to capture insights and ensure that pricing recommendations are well-informed and aligned

    • Supporting affiliates in planning and building solid access and pricing strategies for in-line and launch brands by conducting strategic discussions and providing information needed. Ensure optimal lifecycle management across the Amgen portfolio, with a focus on launch excellence

    • Leading dossier governance process reviewing access strategy, data to be submitted and executive summary ensuring alignment with global strategy and managing any deviation. Supporting affiliates with RTQ management, data, modelling inputs and provide the continuous support along the payer engagement/negotiation process. Transferring findings between affiliates

    • Offering strategic insights and support to affiliates to develop robust business cases and leading pricing governance. Supporting the implementation of payer and policy-related innovation initiatives that meet both payer and Amgen's needs in the region, including innovative pricing schemes.

    • Ensuring affiliate business cases align with strategic objectives, follow pricing policies, and remain consistent with regional pricing bands. Additionally, evaluating risks related to International Reference Pricing (IRP), cross-border implications, and the financial/P&L impact of various scenarios, ensuring that decisions are informed and made at the appropriate leadership level within the organization

    • Providing strategic input during forecasting exercises (e.g. LRS, Budget), ensuring alignment with Regional Finance Lead and consolidating GV&A inputs and underlying assumptions.

    • Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of sub-regional payer dynamics, including emerging trends that could impact access to Amgen products and advocate for mitigation strategies together with RVAL. Support policy teams with country level plans, as appropriate

    • Closely monitoring access status of Amgen brands and major competitors in WEMEA and ensure up to date access information is included in GOP systems like ACT, BET etc.

    • Leading the sharing of standard processes and key takeaways across affiliates to develop and enhance VA&P capabilities within the sub-region

    • Leading and contributing to global initiatives to enhance and continuously improve Global Value & Access systems and processes such as GOP CoEs and Taskforces

    Basic Qualification

    • PhD, MSc or BA in a scientific area (e.g., medicine, pharmacy, biology, economics, engineering, etc.)

    • Demonstrated directly related industry experience (e.g., market access, pricing, commercial)

    Preferred Qualification

    • In-Depth Knowledge of Payer and Government Landscape: Extensive understanding of regional healthcare environment including key areas such as reimbursement, pricing and contracting, value drivers, formulary management, Health Technology Assessment (HTA), government affairs, policy, and advocacy

    • Analytical and Situational Awareness: Ability to conduct comprehensive situation analyses of the external environment, synthesizing relevant information to guide regional strategies and support the development of country-specific strategic plans

    • Financial Competence and P&L Management established expertise of financial principles, including profit and loss (P&L) management. Ability to assess financial implications of pricing and access strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering financial performance in line with regional and global goals

    • Strategic Planning Expertise: Strong strategic planning skills at both the product level and across countries (cross-portfolio). Adept at developing and implementing strategies that align with broader organizational goals and market needs

    • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities, including the interpersonal skills necessary to foster collaboration and navigate complex organizational structures. Proficient in both oral and written presentation, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively

    • Time Management and Prioritization: Ability to prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment with high emotional intelligence and resilience to meet strategic demands from affiliates and other partners for time-sensitive tasks

    • Cultural Competence: Empathy and strong appreciation for cultural diversity, with the ability to adapt strategies and communications to different cultural contexts within the region

    • Technical Expertise: Experience in implementing technical projects and/or process design with appropriate planning, customer involvement and communication to support GOP pricing systems and process development
