roup plays a key role in keeping up the standards. Through work with the team you will have the unique opportunity to impact products all across Apple, because here new ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly.
We are looking for an engineer with a strong background in control systems to design, develop and deploy calibration and test instrumentation systems, with a particular focus on motor and force control applications, for Apple's world class products. This engineer will work closely with cross-functional groups (Design, ME, EE, SW, Ops, etc.) throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase to ensure the success of current and future Apple products.
Description
You will be responsible for the design specification, bring up, validation and deployment of automated instrumentation to calibrate and test Apple's products through NPI and mass production, emphasizing robust control strategies for precision motion and force applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Self-motivated, self-reliant, and confident in working independently in a challenging factory environment. The following skills are not necessary for consideration, but will be considered a plus:
Master's in Robotics/Mechatronics/Electrical/ Computer Engineering.
5+ years of professional experience in design, development, debugging, validation and working with electro-mechanical systems, with a deep focus on advanced control system implementation and optimization
Deep experience and strong background in classical and modern control system theory (e.g., PID, state-space, adaptive control, optimal control, robust control) and signal processing, with practical application to a wide range of motor and force control challenges.
Hands-on experience with motor drivers, power electronics, and various motor types (e.g., voice coil, linear, rotary, BLDC, stepper) in a control context.
Familiarity with control system simulation and design tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, Python control libraries).
Understanding of test principles, GRR, experience with test automation and optimization
Experience with data processing tools - plotting, processing and mining data
Experience or deep understanding of AI/ML modelling
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to manage many priorities across multiple disciplines
Multitasking on multiple challenging projects that have tight schedules
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors in Robotics/Mechatronics/Electrical/ Computer Engineering.
3+ years professional experience (or equivalent) in design, development, debugging, validation and working with control systems for electro-mechanical/Robotic systems, particularly involving various types of motors (e.g., servo, stepper, DC, BLDC) and force/torque sensors.
Working knowledge of consumer electronics modules like transducers/ sensors (especially force sensors, motor encoders, accelerometers, gyroscopes, light/pressure/touch/motion).
Strong understanding and practical application of Control System theory and design (e.g., PID control, state-space methods, system identification, stability analysis, robust control) and Signal Processing fundamentals.
Programming skills in one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective-C, along with scripting knowledge (Python, Lua), preferably with experience in real-time control programming for embedded systems.
Experience analyzing and processing large data sets.
Some experience with PLC programming
