Description
Responsibilities of the Hardware Systems Engineer shall include the following: Component data-sheet analysis and selection for schematic capture Coordinate layout of highly constrained multilayer PCBs including HDI and fine pitch BGAs Forecast and plan design time to meet constrained schedules Drive design tradeoffs across manufacturing, test, thermal, performance, reliability, and electrical stakeholders Prototype bring-up, debug, functional verification, and electrical characterization Use advanced lab tools such as 25 GHz oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and BERT scopes to judge the quality and robustness of electrical designs Analyze factory-scale data to adjust signal parameters for maximum margin Debug problems found in manufacturing, feedback root cause and corrective action into design or manufacturing process in preparation for high volume Communicate and present status on concurrent top issues and deadlines Lead, teach, and mentor more junior engineers Candidates should be able to take complete ownership of assigned sub-systems
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or equivalent
Experience with schematic, PCB physical design using Cadence Concept and Allegro or similar CAD tools
Lab skills: oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, electronic loads, etc
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience. High-volume consumer electronics system experience preferred.
Experience leading technically complex projects that are dynamic and business critical
Design experience in digital logic, simulation, power conversion and delivery
Familiarity with RF/wireless concepts
Experience with high-speed serial and memory interfaces including signal integrity design and measurement fundamentals, Command line interface and scripting skills
Specific expertise in several of the following areas is a plus: CPU or GPU microarchitecture, batteries, power management, analog design, audio, wireless, DisplayPort, PCIe, Thunderbolt, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, analog sensors, interconnect
Knowledge of clocking technology: crystals, oscillators, and simple PLLs. Knowledge of discrete passive components (resistors, capacitors, inductors) and their characteristics and specifications.
Ability to debug problems from the system-level down to the component level. Statistical data analysis and visualization (ex. JMP) is a plus
