ing, and managing supplier quality. Success in this role demands strong technical leadership, strategic problem-solving, and seamless collaboration across functions to achieve Apple's standards of quality and operational excellence.
","responsibilities":"Champion quality involvement from initial 2D/BOM design through MP, ensuring all specifications, materials, and processes meet quality objectives. Facilitate alignment among Product Design (PD), Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE), Global Supply Management (GSM), Tooling, and Color Engineering Program Management (EPM) on quality standards.
Develop and deploy data-driven quality systems for real-time tracking of yield, defect rates, and anomaly detection. Supervise Incoming Quality Control (IQC), Supplier Process Optimization & Review (SPOR), and MSA (Gage R&R/CRR).
Achieve yield targets throughout Prototype/EVT/PVT/MP phases using structured problem-solving and closed-loop corrective action (FACA). Leverage predictive analytics and historical data to proactively mitigate defects and improve process robustness.
Partner with Industrial Design (ID) and Color EPM to establish Golden Samples, Limit Samples, and consistent measurement techniques for color, gloss, and texture. Implement end-to-end cosmetic quality controls via Cosmetic Defect Matrix (CDML) and Cosmetic Yield Study (CYS).
Ensure reliability (REL), Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT), and functional test standards are defined and driven in early build phases. Use test data to drive improvements and ensure production readiness.
Standardize quality documentation (PMP/SOP/SIP/QCP) and institute audit processes to guarantee compliance. Deploy data visualization tools (e.g., Radar, Box, Incline Charts) for at-a-glance quality performance monitoring.
Perform regular Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) and Out-of-Box Audit (OBA) assessments to ensure products meet all customer and regulatory standards.
Master critical assembly characteristics during New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure seamless ramp-up. Drive swift failure analysis and corrective actions for FATP IQC-related issues.
Assess and validate supplier quality capabilities and measurement system compliance (CMM, spectrophotometers, etc.). Develop and deliver training programs to elevate supplier quality performance.
Lead root cause analysis and resolution for dimensional non-conformances in partnership with PD and Tooling teams. Implement near-term and long-term improvements to ensure manufacturing consistency and product conformity.
Supervise DFM reviews, package testing (drop/vibration), and validation at FATP IQC.
Preferred Qualifications
Solid understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and statistical software (JMP, Minitab).
Hands-on experience with metrology systems (CMM, OMM, 3D scanners) and measurement validation.
Expertise in manufacturing processes such as injection molding, metal machining (CNC), painting, surface treatment, and assembly.
Established technical leadership with a proven track record to influence cross-functional partners and drive strategic initiatives.
Track record of leading teams to deliver innovative solutions with significant business impact.
Able to translate technical insight into actionable strategies for sophisticated, high-stakes projects.
