The Edge Services Retail Engineering team is looking for a DevOps Automation Engineer with excellent communication skills who is self-motivated about improving existing systems and also passionate about solving complex business problems. The group's charter is to deliver excellent platform experiences and reliable network services to the nearly 500 million people that visit Apple's 530+ retail stores worldwide, as well as store employees.

    Description

    We are looking for someone who loves to troubleshoot issues, has a passion for automation, and is eager to learn new things. Your primary responsibilities include developing tools and automating workflow to deploy and manage compute servers in the Linux operating environments that power critical services at Apple retail stores worldwide and beyond. The role will involve evaluating business requirements, implementing solutions, automating workflows, maintaining servers, monitoring, and developing tools to automate Linux system administration tasks.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Proficiency with Python, Bash scripts, GO, REST APIs, and any object oriented programming a must.

    • Extensive knowledge with Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

    • Experience with automation and configuration management (Puppet, SALT, Ansible).

    • Knowledge of hardware and tuning performance to meet specific performance goals.

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a technical background in software/system engineering, or relevant work experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of the full stack is a plus.

    • Experience with Linux based server virtualization (KVM, containers).

    • Experience with CI/CD, unit testing, and version control systems (GIT).

    • Knowledge of IPv6, DNS, DHCP is a plus.

    • Good understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing.

    • Experience working cross functionally with global team

    • Experience in DevOps/SRE/software engineering in production environment.
