Apple is looking for an engineer to join the Edge Services team responsible for critical systems, such as Apple DNS, that every single Apple team and billions of customer devices depend on! The work involves contributing infrastructure code (Go, shell, C...) to handle services and clusters of servers on six continents in various network environments, address production issues and design for the future
Description
We are looking for an engineer with a validated experience of deeply understanding a technical system, being responsible for the evolution of its architecture and contributing infrastructure code for it in the service of other teams and systems. Such contributor is able to dig into the failures of said systems and work in a collaborative way toward urgent remediation as well as longer term architectural and procedural changes.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience developing deep technical expertise in a technical area
Strong programming skills in language in one or more of the languages: Go, C, shell, python
Experience with various Linux flavors (Redhat, FreeBSD )
Experience with DNS protocols, systems, and best practices
Hands on experience with DNS software such as Bind, PowerDNS, NSD, and/or Unbound
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years experience in a software engineering role
Experience building highly resilient OS image / install processes
Experience with revision control systems, continuous integration, unit testing, code reviews and configuration management systems
Knowledge of IPv6, UDP, HTTP, BGP etc a plus
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
