    Position summary

    In this role, you will use your career experiences and technical depth to own and drive Storage HW validation plans and debug activities, work with and manage external suppliers, and be part of a large multi-functional team that builds Apple Cloud Storage services.     Description

    What you'll do: In your role as a Storage Validation Engineer, you will help validating new SSD and NAND technologies for our Fast Storage server platforms. You are expected to work as part of a cross-functional team that consists of Server Design, Firmware, Mechanical, Software, DC ops, Supply Chain, EPM, and other areas that work collaboratively to scale or build Apple Storage Services for all our Cloud Services. In this role, you will work with Technology Vendors externally as well as Eng teams internally to help deliver the best SSD & NAND solutions for our server roadmap. The Storage Validation Eng is also encouraged to support all existing SSD & NAND technologies in our DC HW production, including periodic firmware qualifications and reliability tracking, as well as debugging systemic and complex issues and driving them to resolution and closure.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

    • 5+ years experience in storage hardware validation engineering

    • Familiarity with of SSD and NAND architecture, specifications, and functionality.

    • Experience (and love) for hardware validation using synthetic tests & benchmarks, as well as debugging complex hardware problems to ensure the system works in all cases

    • Ability to build, execute, and drive hardware validation plans for new server and storage components and platforms.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Excited by the idea of using new hardware technologies to help scale and build innovative cloud storage services

    • In depth knowledge of SSD & NAND storage technologies and storage systems' architecture.

    • Strong Linux OS knowledge; kernel, filesystems, performance profiling and optimization

    • Experience working with Storage Technology vendors

    • Understand industry trends in SSD & NAND specs, performance benchmarking, and reliability, to help in developing state-of-the-art validation plans that keep the bar high for quality.

    • Passionate about automating their work; their test cases, their benchmarks, their test results, etc. mainly using Python, Shell Scripting, or similar languages.

    • Experience working in a lab with mockup test units; set it up, rack it, configure it, provision it, etc.

    • Solid understanding of storage security elements

    Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
