    Position summary

    erformance in wireless for brand-new products. You will become part of a hands-on product development team that shape and influence current and future generations of Apple products. We're looking for hard-working and motivated engineers with good fundamentals in one or more areas of RF/wireless and electromagnetic theory, antenna design, system integration, & wireless communications.

    Description

    Candidate should have a broad-based knowledge in aspects RF architecture, design, integration and manufacturing. They have deep theoretical and practical knowledge in one or more areas of electromagnetic theory, RF and Wireless circuit design, communication theory, and product design trade-off. They use electromagnetic and system simulation, hands on prototyping, test and measurement to understand sophisticated system and sub-system interactions, implications to product level design, and manufacturing trade-offs to enable mass production. Candidate is able to apply their expertise in all aspects of product design from concept, architecture definition, integration and prototyping to final production. They work closely with wireless and software architects, industrial designers, and product designers to guide and sculpt the product design with an eye towards optimizing RF functionality for the user. Candidate is to work in manufacturing facilities to support builds from prototype phase to mass production. Travel to factory will be required but shouldn't exceed 20% of the job. International trip to Cupertino and or Madrid will be encouraged and should be ~2 to 3 times per year to connect with the broader cross functional teams.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • BSEE or Equivalent educational background.

    • Knowledge of integration of wireless technologies such as cellular, GPS, Wifi, and NFC into products.

    • Knowledge of basic RF fundamentals and proven understanding of wireless systems

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    • Detailed oriented and can present message to teams clearly

    • Build and develop study methodologies for wireless performance evaluation. Collect, analyze and publish data internally & cross-functionally within Apple

    • Provide user experience assessment of engineering data (quantitative, statistical &/or qualitative) and provide clear and concise feedback to stakeholder teams (e.g. Module &/or System Engineering, Product Design) in a timely manner

    • Deliver clear design recommendations to cross-functional teams on resolving wireless system issues (including but not limited to RF/Antenna systems and baseband algorithms)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation tools.

    • Hands-on experience with RF lab instrumentation such as call box, VNA, spectrum analyzer, power meter.

    • Ability to debug desense issues and characterize noise sources.

    • Experience with production environment and statistical analysis.

    • Ability to understand field KPI's to debug and collect logs.

    • Experience with antenna design/test, EM wave propagation analysis, anechoic chambers and radiated performance evaluation like antenna-efficiency, TRP & TIS, SAR.

    • Experience with RF lab equipment (e.g. network analyzer, channel emulator, signal generator, signal analyzer, wireless network emulator)

    • Experience with analysis of wireless communication systems such as LTE, 5G mmWave, WiFi, Bluetooth etc. including the corresponding system-level key performance indicators.

    • Programming ability in Python, Matlab &/or R (or other equivalent)

    • Field performance testing of devices.

    • Experience working with network drops and packet debug.
